I'm in the Air Force and I dont know what job I should do. I have it narrowed down to Combat Control or S.E.R.E. If anyone knows anyone who has done either of these or if you have any advice feel free to leave comments. Thanks

Actually buddy you should probably research before you open your mouth. Every so often military members can change their mos or job. Thats what I'm doing. So please do research before you open your mouth and make a pointless comment... thank you

if this is true, that your in the service and don't know what to do, this kinda explains the stupid crap that's going on in the middle east.

S.E. R. E. sounds more challenging. And there has to be a growing need for instructors. Not so much in reaction to any increased loss of pilots or aircrews in enemy territory. But, we are losing those ex-POWs who once formed a cadre of advisors and instructors in the Navy school at Warner Springs, California. So, I would imagine that is happening in the Air Force as well. Technology may change. But, survive, evade, resist and escape can still be put to use in war.
I had the good fortune to go through the USAF SERE training facility at Numazu, Japan in the 1960s as a Navy Hospital Corpsman with the Fleet Marines. Learned a lot about survival.

Matt. I'm an Airbourne Linguist so I had to do SERE and man o man is the training to be an instructor there hard, but let me tell you, they LOVED their jobs and were proud as hell. They were right to be proud cause they taught us all VERY well and are VERY good at what they do.
Combat Control...I went to medina for Enlisted Aircrew training and saw combat control in training mode at the chow hall every day. The training is VERY hard, but VERY important and they are also VERY good at their jobs. My hats off to you if you choose either. Youre a braver man than I.
I should add that spokane, WA seemed to be a very nice area when I was there for SERE so thats always a big plus, but SERE guys also have the oppprtunity to tdy to lots of bases stateside and overseas for individual unit training and refresher courses.

Zalles,
I think youre thinking of Air Traffic Control. Thats different. COMBAT CONTROL is practically on the front lines. But the name is misleading.
