I've had my braces on for about 10 months (since last October). I've been given rubber bands to wear for a few months now, which I have been doing RELIGOUSLY. During my last visit, they put another "band" on my back molar so that they could move the wire back further. What will this do? And roughly how far into my treatment am I?

I think you are almost half way through.
Do not be in a hurry to get your braces off because then your teeth will be loose from all that moving and if you break your retainer like I did and
couldn`t get a new one for a week, your teeth will have repositioned and back on with the braces.

Sounds like the rubber band was put there probably because you had a bad overbite. And for your treatment normally it takes 2 years before the braces come off so you stated 10 months. Basically you have 14 months left, but that really depends how severe it is. The more severe the longer it is.

Cant' really tell how far in the treatment you are, they are still trying to straighten things out, thus the rubber bands. If you do use them religiously, it will move things along faster. How fast just depends on your teeth.

The bands are for your jaw bite. They moved the wire back further to straighten your back teeth. O and it depends if you still have baby teeth in or not if they are still in then it might take a while.

The bands have to do with teeth alignment. Where ever they put them is where it helps pull your teeth together right. So when its all finished your teeth will be straight and they will come together just right when you bite.
