this is a tough situation for you, that's for sure.
many people don't like interracial relationships, primarily because sometimes there are diverse differences in their traditions, and etc. another thing is, children of interracial relationships are sometimes mistreated by other kids.. it makes it hard for these children sometimes... emotional problems could result....
we are truly all made of the same "stuff" and you can't help who you fell in love with....
i dont see how your parents could threaten his military career, unless he is an adult and you are a minor.. otherwis what can they do? I'm not sure.
you didn't mention your age or other circumstances
i read this however, and i felt badly for your situation.
if you were my child, i'd probably give you the pros and cons of this type relationship, if i thought it might be difficult for your future... but i'd ultimately let you make your own decision .
sending hugs and good thoughts

I was recently in the same kind of relationship as you are where I was the one that was constantly forced to have nothing to do with guy and the more I went against my family's wishes the more I was punished. This is probably the worst situation a girl can be in...to disobey and disown her family or be with the one man she thinks is absolutely perfect. All I will say is to really think about it and try to make a decision that won't hurt your family b/c in the end, family is the most important..or should be at least...and is all you really have. (even if you have problems w/ your family like I do) Good luck!

My first response is love whomever you wish! It is your choice and none-others.
My second response is ... are you sure it a racial issue? Could there be more to it? Inter-racial relationships are quite common in these days, unlike 30+ years ago. Human-kind has come a long way in this respect.
I have great respect for my family. After-all, their true concern is my well-being. Speak with them. Perhaps they are aware of something you are nor aware of.

I honestly doubt he's the only one for you. If you're willing to accept the idea that you'll find someone else eventually and if you're a non-confrontational type, then I say do what your family wishes. Otherwise leave home, disown your family and be with him, because no one should ever tell you how to live your own life.

yeah, what could they do to his military career?
i know u already did that, but try again to make them understand what u feel about him, how important this is for you, how this could possibly be ur ONLY chance to be in a happy relationship, and maybe the ONLY relationship u could have.
But if u'r over 18, and u really think he is THE one for u, then I'll say go 4 it. good luck.

Well I hope its not like a first love thing, cause then I would say things seem great now but can change in the future, but if you two love each other and he his willing to spend the rest of his life with you the screw what ever the family thinks....good luck....

If he makes you happy and treats you like a queen then you have to do what YOU want to do, regardless of your family. Why are they like this- have they given you any valid reasons? If they don't have good reasons forget what they think- you can't make everyone happy. Good luck!

How can they possibly threaten his military career? I think they are blowing smoke on that one. If you are of legal age, and if this is an honorable persoin who treats you well and has a moral code, then I would not let him go.
