This is quoted as precicely as possible: "I don't follow any religion, including yours; but I do respect all religions, except yours; It don't make any difference which one you follow, just that you follow it, now go away"
I can't give the name of the person quoted, as I have not been given permission to do so (I may be a jerk, but am not THAT much of one).

A man in a suit followed this gentleman around a hospital telling him he wanted him to know about the "one true religion" and he wanted "to save" him. The first dozen or so times the quoted gentleman responded along the lines of "I appreciate your concern, but I'm really not interested, and I'm a little too busy for this right now". The guy in the suit never did bother to say what religious sect he was with. The quoted gentleman is a native spiritualist, who was there to check on his grandmother. For those who care to know, she's fine now.

The statement is obviously aimed at the person, not their religion. Anyone who has been harassed by a street evangelist can see what might cause a person to respond this way. Most people who hound others into rejection, do not even realize how much the push people away. They actually appear to think they are doing good.

1. Rap is all about bitchez and hoes and drugs and partying. rap is a style of vocal delivery. it can be, and is, used to talk about any subject manner. 2. If you don't listen to classic rock, then you have awful music taste. classic rock is a radio format. if you listen to a radio format you don't have taste in music, you borrowed someone else's. 3. Metalheads are generally angry and aggressive people (this could also go for punk fans, I suppose) a large variety of people enjoy metal. i also find it interesting that in the case of rap, the stereotype was that all the music is about X, but in the case of metal the stereotype is that the people reflect one of the archetypal subject matters of the genre. 4. Writing pop music does not require talent. not true. the producers are often very talented people. some of the singers, however... 5. (insert genre here) is not real music. music is music 6. Electronic music all sounds the same. you should try listening to electronic music. it is not all club music like the stereotypes assume. it spans the range all the way to avant garde jazz. 7. Insulting a musician means you're jealous of them. or it means you don't like their music. don't assume other people's intent. 8. Male Justin Bieber fans are gay. if i meet one i'll let you know 9. Being a fan of mainstream music makes you a mindless sheep. making statements based on stereotypes makes you a mindless sheep 10. Being a fan of "indie" music makes you pretentious. where to even begin? with the amazing variety of music recorded on independent labels these days, or with the idea that enjoying any attempts at high art is somehow a character flaw?

If the person told me that he respected all religions except for the one I 'belong' to, then that person would be a waste of time to talk to about it. He just called himself unsavable, and not chosen by God. Inwardly, I would be relieved, because I would know that I didn't have to bother with the guy.
It's not my loss! I have gained in fact.

My gut response is "hypocrite". But I don't know the situation and all that jazz...Sounds like that person was just trying to have the last word, but not listen.
How would I respond? I wouldn't. It doesn't really deserve a response. If they don't have enough respect for me to explain themselves and let me explain myself - then why even bother? They obviously already think they know everything.

I would simply say "I am sorry that you have a disrespect for any religion, mine included, but I respect your lack of belief." And then I would drop the subject or I would walk away.

Out of curiosity, what's your religion? Not my business, but I'm wondering why you'd be singled out.

I would say that, that doesn't make any sense, like religion. I would also say that they have great English.
