wear and finally ordered a long dress in off white. From the back it has styling like a long tuxedo jacket. Now, i'm reading on here that its not right to wear white unless your the bride. Its off white, like a winter white. Help, should I get something different? Am I going to be out of place in this?

My mom wore an off white dress to my wedding and she looked absolutely radiant!! I wouldn't have wanted her in anything else!! I still got plenty of attention and all eyes were on me.......I was the one at the front of the church saying I do not her!!

If you wear it the bride and everyone in attendance will think you did it on purpose to be rude or to make some kind of statement, since EVERYONE knows you don't wear any shade of white to a wedding. Mothers of the groom should stick with navy, silver, beige, purple etc. Don't start the relationship with this girl and her family on the wrong foot. You have plenty of time to find something appropriate.

My dress at my daughter's wedding was beige, maybe your off-white dress is really beigy? Really, it doesn't really matter that much to me and many others, but I would ask your future DIL if she has any suggestions or a preference for your dress color. If she feels strongly about it, then either dye the off white one or find another dress. Perhaps you can return the dress for another color? Dress color is not worth a tiff with your new DIL to start off your relationship.

Yes. Off white or white - it doesn't matter, it still looks bad. You should just ask the bride - she IS going to be your dauther in law afterall. She might have a preference. When I got married, my mom consulted with my fiance's mom so they wouldn't choose the same color. They both chose a color that would compliment the color the bridesmaids were wearing.

off white for a mother..well if you already ordered it..there's nothing wrong with it..just add on a little bit of something to go with it like something with color..but remember too look beautiful but not totally stand out because the day is for your son and your future daughter...however if money aint a problem, i suggest you get something of a different color..other than white because its true that white is just for the bride even if its off white..

That's definitely not something you should wear to someone else's wedding. Off white, winter white, it doesn't matter, I would be deeply offended if my MIL wore white to my wedding. As a matter of fact my MIL did wear white to my wedding and people still talk bad about her 14 years later and it's one of the many many reason I hate her.

off white is still white! you should ask the bride!!! i personally wouldn't care as long as your dress wasn't fancier than mine. if she agrees, definitely tone it down with colored accessories! maybe you can even get a sheer jacket in champagne, sage or some other subtle color to go over top. that way, you can still see your dress, but it won't be WHITE!

You kinda need to blend in with the wedding party. Ask what the bride's mom is wearing so you don't clash.

I would ask the bride if I were you. Some women want a strictly traditional wedding where all the rules are followed. Others don't really care so much about the rules and prefer to do things their own way. If she's okay with it, go for it.

If you are not the bride, don't wear white or off white, go with another color.
