Just a couple of passages; see also the Book of Proverbs:
"Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."
Ephesians 6:4
"Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged."
Colossians 3:21

Not to mis-treat them and provoke them to Anger Ephesians 6 and Colossians 3! Fathers should teach their children about God, not try to BE god in their lives. Fathers are to nurture them and be firm, not mean.
It's a Two edged sword!

If your children are young and you don't live with them at least pay Child Support. God's a little behind in his payments.

It depends on if the children are male or female, according to the Bible.

The Old Testament says to beat them with a rod if they misbehave. If they really misbehave, stone them to death.
I'm sure some Christians could quote me chapter and verse on this.

He should not unduly provoke them to anger. He should be firm but loving to his children.
There should be guidelines, rules and discipline established but he should not be abusive and mean.
