I took her to a boarder with other birds and she came home with a shriek that drives me crazy. I try to ignore it but she feels that I dont like it, and she knows I am paying attention so she keeps doing it. I have tried ignoring it and I have tried to tell her no when she does it. Neither seems to work

How long has it been since she came home? She's either just showing you that she's angry with you for leaving her, or you didn't ignore her for long enough. It takes a few days, and you have to actively ignore birds. DO NOT COVER THE CAGE. This doesn't show them that they're in trouble, it just makes them think you're mean for putting them to bed early. When she screams, leave the room, shut off the lights, and don't come back until she's been silent for a full 10 minutes (it can take a while). Then come back and give her LOTS of attention and treats. The screaming should go away or at least greatly decrease in a couple days. If after this you're still having trouble, please feel free to let me know! I work a lot with cockatoos who are REAL screaming birds, so I know lots of tricks.

There is one of those at the local animal shelter. No one can make him stop shrieking and he drives everybody crazy! What kind of things does your bird really dislike? Find what he hates, and do it when he shrieks. With dogs, we throw aluminum cans with 3 pennies in them in the direction of the disobedient pet. They hate that noise, it scares them, they obey.

Have you searched the internet for bird behavioral specialists? Looked at the library for books on the subject? How about the vet?

Good luck.

Punishing the chicken is cruelty. And he shouldn't in any respect be allowed to flow out and in of his cage at will. This makes him the boss and self sufficient of you. that's organic - Nature that birds are lots extra vocal early in the morning and late in the afternoon. initiate being the boss of the chicken and end punishing him for being a parrot. you're taking him out of the cage once you elect for him out. If he likes being out, does he have a play stand or does he take a seat on appropriate of his cage??? You attain in and instruct him to Step Up on your hand. he will study it is the only way he gets out. Google - coaching a parrot Step Up. permit him clearly call for an hour or so in the late afternoon - that's his Nature, in spite of each and every little thing. a lot of human beings get a parrot no longer understanding their nature - including being messy, pooping and calling in morning and evening. Do extra analyze and notice in case you somewhat want a parrot.

I don't know a lot about birds, but can you cover her cage with a drape cloth when she does it, just until she calms down? If you do it each time maybe she will get the hint and stop doing it.

I put mine out on the balcony (in his cage) for a while if he gets too loud. When I bring him in he is usually calm and quiet.

My nan has parrots and sprays them with a little bit of water if they get too noisy.. and says 'shhhhh'

After a while, they learn to be quiet as soon as she picks it up. She doesn't even have to use it - but they stop.. They've even learnt to say 'shhh' lol it's cute
