People are impatient and want what they want. They don't care about the rest of it. You don't own the store. You do what you're told to do. She can rant at you all she wants. If she really wants to complain, she needs to talk to the owners or supervisors. They're the only ones who can decide to change opening times of various departments.

People are very often simple minded and cannot grasp the concept that because the store opens at 7 that another area of the store may not open until a later time. This lady only understood the simple time and saw that you were there. She also had no concept that since you were there that you might have to do some preparations before you are ready to start serving the public.

It is frustrating and confusing to people. They are so wrapped up in their own lives that they think like small children, that they are in the center and the whole world revolves around them. It is a very immature way of looking at the world, and you will find that there is little that you can do to try to explain it to people like that. The main thing to do is to remain calm and just tell her, sorry that is the way it is. I look at certain people in this world when I deal with them and realize it probably isn't their fault they are that way. I just smile and picture a quacking duck or a barking dog in my mind.

The customer is always right. Open at 8 am means open at 8 am - not employee shows up at 8 am, counts money, opens register, turns on machines, etc. and can do business at 8:10 am.

I used to work in the same kind of place, and we got there 15 minutes before open time to prepare.

When your counter opens, it should be expected that you are able to do your job immediately and completely. Calling other people stupid for not knowing something that isn't plainly posted makes you sort of an @ $s Hole. What a rude nasty person you are! If I were your boss you'd get a chewing out and if you ever showed that attitude again, you'd be FIRED and sent out on the street.

At the time a place is scheduled to be open, everything should be ready, even if it means employees get in early to make sure it is so.

The lady was justified in being upset.

Usually it's the people who have never worked in a job like that. They've never had that experience, so they tend to judge harshly.

I think everyone should be required to work customer service for at least a year. Maybe they'd be more understanding or polite or grab a clue!
