I do not think there is any such cult or restrictions for women entering Murugan temple. All the temples, inclusive of the famous 6 Padai Veedu Temples, Thiruchendur, Thiruthanigai, Palani, Paxhamudircholai, Swamymalai, Thiruparangundram allow women devotes to enter the temple on all days. I have visited all these temples with my family.
I feel you have got some wrong information.

Most Indians haven't quite grasped onto that whole 'Both genders are Equal' stuff.
