Plasma, Plasma High Definition or LCD which TV of the three is the best one to purchase?

Mayday, mayday!!!

Within the next two weeks, I plan to buy a big screen TV, I'd like to know of the three, which one will produce an excellent picture & quality sound?

IF you have KIDS...AVOID the LCD tv set, as they have damaged the Video display pushing on it with their hands or whacking it with a bat or throwing something at it......

Otherwise the LCD is the better investment.....it consumes LESS power and is more antiglare....

The plasma is nicer in Kid-homes.....just make sure you ONLY clean it with a Monster Screen Cleaning kit available at Radio Shack or the store you buy the TV from.
The Kit PROTECTS the anti-glare coating found on the plasma screen.....

I have a Panasonic LCD Dlp 40" I paid 1899 for it at costco in Jan 2004. It has an excellent quality. I just recently changed the lamp it went out. I got 3.5 years on the first lamp. They do run 300 dollars though and are rated for about 5000 hours. The only other televisions that are big screen that I have had are a 55: Mitusbishi those are good but bulky. I would just recommend going with an lcd projection like mine. You can even use it with a computer if you like. The panasonic one that I have only weighs 120 lbs its big but still managable. Also has a lot of functions and 3 inputs for other devices. If you want to know more about what kind of tv I have you can get an idea all though it is old you can see. Its # is PT40LC12 and is made by panasonic. But I know that may give you an idea about panasonics tvs. You can also go to panasonic.com and search all of their product lines as well.

I would personally recommend LCD, because with all plasma displays after extended use there are images that get burned onto the screen. And example would be the logo in the corner of the screen for CNN, ESPN or any other station. After a while the logo and anything else that is in one spot on the screen for a while will permanently be a transparent 'ghost' image of that logo.

Plus, I personally think the picture on LCD looks nicer than on Plasma

I think LCD is your best bet. They run cooler (no fan noise), no burn in, smaller pixel size so a sharper image. If a pixel fails on a LCDyour left with a black dot which you don't notice, with a plasma you left with a coloured dot that glows all the time. TVs that require lamps can be expensive if you need to replace the lamp every few years. They're guaranteed to fail just as the best thing on TV in years is about to start.
