What are the proper discharging & recharging procedures?

I got the RC's in the late 90's, so I don't know if they still have the memory issue that older NiCd batteries had.

Old RC toys is one thing. Old fashioned Ni Cd's is something else!! Scrap them... Ni Cads have improved so much over the years and are getting very cheap as MH's and others are taking their place. Harbor Freight Tools is selling 4 pack nikes in aa and aaa sizes for $2.95 for example. They even have 2000 mah MH's in 4 packs for $3.95.
The days of memory (due to the whiskers internally) with Ni Cads hasn't been a problem in several years. Any good quality charger with a led and current limiting resistor can be used with out worrying too much about over charging them. The old "run them all the way down" idea went out of vogue when Sanyo made the "screen core" break through and memory problems became a thing of the past in the mid 90's
