It's the religious people who do, and aren't their religions supposed to teach love and tolerance? They're just contradicting themselves. So what if we don't believe? At least you don't have to worry about us murdering children to send them to heaven or committing acts of terrorism.

I know not all religious people hate atheists. I'm talking about the ones who do.

Tell me when did you hear a christain say they hate an atheist. Just because we don't agree doesn't meen we hate. Do you hate christains? Atheist don't threaten me any. I know what I feel from God. I know what has happen in my life. Unless you have ever felt what it is like to have the Holy Sprit run through your body you could never understand.

That's exactly what I don't understand about all the religious people.

I dated two or three guys who were REALLY upset that I didn't believe in a god. So what? Does my believing or not believing mean the sun's not going to come up tomorrow? Is it going to affect YOUR ability to lead a productive life? What difference could it possibly make!??

One was a Muslim, and the others were Christian.

I didn't tell them how ridiculous I think their beliefs are, and really disliked them telling me that they thought I was ridiculous. If I, an atheist, can be tolerant and can manage not to insult the, why can't they do the same for me?

Not all religious people hate atheists just like not all atheists hate religious people.

Some but not all religions teach love and tolerance, but even then there are certain limits to how much you can put up with - you can't give 100% unconditional tolerance of everything.

Last but not least, haven't atheists done their fair share of murder and other crimes - what has changed that you are now above all that and we no longer have to fear you?

People are left to their own devices. They can make their own choices. Yes some religions are supposed to have tolerance toward others, but some choose not to listen. Not all religious people commite acts of terrorism or murder. I am very religious and I have never done any of those things and I never will. Please don't group us all together, it hurts to be called a murder and terrorist when your not.

true...I agree with you. I'm 16 and one of the most religious female Catholics you'll meet...I would never HATE anyone. I love everyone. But I do pity you because you'll never experience the joy and love and happiness that I do. People that murder and terrorists are evil...they have been tempted by the devil and were not strong enough to fight it. They say they do things for their religion but this is not true because anything evil is evil and has nothing to do with religion. Sorry I'm rabbling lol. It's one of my many flaws. Anyway back to your question...not all religious people hate atheists, we just don't understand you. I have many Atheist friends and we agree on many topics except for the one about God ofcourse but I respect them and would never pressure my beliefs on some one because they have free will and they can do whatever they want, as can you. God bless you.

Hate is what theists are required to do. Christians and Muslims are commanded to do so. Fear, which is what drives them to religion in the first place, makes them hate people who are not so indoctrinated. After all, the presence of non-believers makes them face the possibility that they are believing in nothing more than the tooth fairy.

I don't hate noone. Infact, it is proven that hatred only causes the person that trys to hate someone to be miserable. Hate is a strong word. I disagree with some of the things people say but that doesn't require me to hate or dislike them.

Personally I don't hate atheists in general. But I can't stand idiots who go out of their way to slander "religious" people, insult their faith then try to say its the believers who are the slanders. Just like your question right here.

I don't hate atheists. I don't agree with atheism.

It takes just as much faith to believe in atheism as it does to believe in God. To make the absolute statement “God does not exist” is to make a claim of knowing absolutely everything there is to know about everything – and of having been everywhere in the universe there is to go – and having witnessed everything there is to be seen. of course, no atheist would make these exact claims. However, that is essentially what they are claiming when they state that God does not exist.
