Aside from all the shallow answers some people have put... Let us first establish that he never actually did it. He was prepared to sacrifice him, but God stopped him. Second of all, sacrifice someone to MEET God? Abraham did it not to MEET God, but to OBEY God. There is a difference. And another observation is that God earlier told him that he would have many descendants. It is quite likely that he thought that that meant God would stop the sacrifice or raise Issac from the dead. It is Issac right? I'm no good with names... ANYWAY. The lesson in there is that Christians need to put God before others. A mature Christian (not a "true" one, but a mature one in the faith) would, albite reluctantly, put God just before others, and him/herself last. As for me personally, I would like to say I would to OBEY God, not, to MEET Him. That's not how it goes, people. But hey, I'm just a teen. I've never had a child. If I mature in my faith more, I like to think I would be obediant.

No~ Why would I do that? If I have faith in God (as I do) then I also have faith that as long as I live a positive and as sin free as possible life then when I die I will spend eternity in Heaven and I will meet God then... That's how I've interpreted His promise to us anyway :)
Interesting question though...

If God wanted me to sacrifice my first born child, the just like Abraham I would have faith that God was able to raise him from the dead.
Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, 18 of whom it was said, "Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." 19 He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.
Besides which, God sacrificed his only Son Jesus so that I could be with Him and unlike any human child, Jesus never broke any of God's laws and didn't deserve to be punished for it.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Hebrews 4:14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

No. And God wouldn't ask it of me, or anyone else. He ultimately didn't even ask it of Abraham, after all!
