Recently I was asked by a patriotic American what she could actually do to support the troops. More than just a bumpersticker.

I have answered that in my Article "How Can You Support the Troops?" I have also added two letters to the "From the mouths of soldiers series" to demonstrate how this small way effects Soldiers so greatly.

In my "Hardened Warriors" series, I show you just what kind of men our Soldiers and Marines are.

I also have several articles on the enemy, their history and their intentions, as demonstrated by their own words.

NO, I do not get paid for this. It is not my job. My only hope is that if Americans know the truth, they will support us and our mission.

No Politics. Just the Groundtruth from a combat veteran that has been to both Fronts in this war, backed up by history, independent research and real war stories from others and me.

All: I'm talking more than bumper stickers here. I'm talking about the things you can do, that cost you little or nothing but pay off greatly for you and them.

Thank you for paying your taxes, but that's not really a choice. Very little money that you pay in taxes goes to the military, regardless of what 'some politicians' tell you.

Once again, I'm talking concrete means of actually supporting them. They are risking life and limb to keep you safe, as are our police officers and firefighters. Are some of you really so cold to think that all you can do is sit back and let money be taken out of your check in taxes?

Green: that is a conspiracy theory. It has nothing to do with the troops nor is it objective.

At 2 hrs, there is no way I'm sitting through it, given the above. Nice way to hide it though, through a google link.

So Happy: Thank you for the compliment and more importantly for Supporting OUR Troops.

Those letters DO mean a lot as demonstrated in the letters I've posted from the Troops.

Yes m'Lady Shondra, I would believe how much it means. I have received them and I still have some of those letters, buried deep in my storage containers, decades after I came back from Desert Storm.

You are correct, it doesn't take a lot of effort on your part, nor do I expect one to try to do it all. "From each according to their abilities." Some is much better than none. If all did some, PTSD would be decreased and our troops would be taken care of in every way necessary.

these are our nations sons and daughters far from home, living is difficult circumstances yet doing a very professional job.

i belong to a local group that send little things that mean so much to them. i am sry that i can't be more active right now but you would be surprised at how much a simple letter of encouragement means to them. some do not have families here at home so it really means a lot to them.

"I can't do everything, but I can do something." so don't think you have to do some huge gesture for it to be appreciated. simple things mean a lot too.

We should thank you for posting this question hun. I'm not serving any more, but I have. There are a number of things anyone in this country can do. The biggest problem faced by lads is that when we are out there, especially when we are in the ****, it really gets moral down when all we hear is that everyone back home doesn't support the war/slagging off soldiers/doesn't appreciate what we are doing, it isn't a huge thing, but it does affect moral. So stopping short of shooting every liberal 'not in my name' muppet, how about trying to get local councils to stage parades or street celebrations for local regiments and returning soldiers? I realise this is a huge undertaking. On a smaller scale, how about setting up some sort of present system, just get people to donate things they think the lads would appreciate. A few lads mags, ablution stuff, the odd DVD, just little things that give them that little taste of home and donate it to your local barracks for them to pass it on to serving soldiers or send it as a care package? Just keep up the good work hun, seriously you have made my day by posting this question. It is nice to see that not everyone in this country hates the armed forces and what they are doing. Thank you.

I have adopted several soldiers and send weekly letters, cards, and 2 care packages a month. I do so in hopes that some little message will mean a lot to them. I do not know these Soldiers, I just write and send things in care packages that I feel will help them. It makes me feel good, they appreciate it, and often will ask me to send a package to a friend who never receives mail.

I love doing this, and it doesn't matter to me if I don't hear from them, I am proud of them for serving our country.

If you would like to adopt a soldier, let me know, I can provide you with a link.

Great blog!

The most objective piece I've ever come across that details the hard-to-swallow truth is as follows. Seriously, sit down on a comfortable chair/sofa before you watch:

Support that which our troops put their lives on the line for. Support the cause. That is the biggest thing you can ever do.
