We were really busy today and finally got around to dinner at 9:30 pm. The poor dogs even got their dinner late! Anyway my fine dining was ramen noodles followed by a bowl of corn flakes!

SPAGHETTI CARBONARA
1 1/2 to 2 c. fresh grated parmigano or Asigo cheese
6 to 8 slices bacon
1/2 to 2/3 c. half and half
2 to 3 cloves crushed garlic
2 to 3 tbsp. white wine
Use more or less cream if you want it wetter or drier. Fry bacon. Remove and crumble it. Saute' garlic in grease. Put in white wine to de-glaze. May want to drain some grease before saute' garlic. Cook pasta while doing this, then drain and put back in pot. Add bacon, wine and garlic, cheese, cream, stirring constantly. Add bacon crumbled up. Serve with salad and garlic bread. Husband will complain if above not served with garlic bread.

I made a big ole salad with 3 kinds of lettuce, bacon bits, spinach, black olives, hard boiled eggs sliced, tomatoes, avocados and grilled chicken cut into strips. It's so hot that I have refrigerated it and will bring it out to serve in about an hour~

Split pea soup.
Dried split peas, chopped carrots and onions, a boullion cube (chicken), a pork hock (smoked), oregano, bay leaf, a minced clove of garlic, pepper, chopped celery, chopped kale, and diced red potatoes. And water. I'm making it in the oven in a covered glass dish. After 1 1/2 hours the pork hock comes out and the meat is cut off and returned to the soup. Home baked bread (one of those frozen dough loaves you let thaw and rise and then bake) will go with it.
