I am thinking of buying my very first car. I am thinking of either Honda Civic or Honda Fit? What do you think? I am open up to other suggestions (but please give a valid reason why).

I wanted a car that wont give me problems and is a good car for a very first buy. This will be the car i will be driving for more than 5 years.

So, what do you think? I'm test driving them on Tuesday. I just need to know what you have heard abut the civic or the fit.

I would definately go with a Honda Civic. My boyfriend recently purchased a 1992 Civic. It is a real basic car; no AC, manual windows, manual transmissision. He can get 600 miles out of one tank (10-12 gallon tank I believe) of gas.

My coworker also has the same 1992 Honda Civic and he is not very savvy when it comes to cars. I believe I know more about cars than he does. However, for him not knowing when or how to change his oil or take care of simple items on his Honda Civic his car it is still running! It amazes me!

I too, am a big Honda fan. I just sold my Honda Accord to a friend of mine who was getting crappy gas mileage out of his truck. My Honda was a 1992 and I was still getting 30MPG. I also had two Honda Preludes (1986 and 1982). Both which I loved!

I have never driven a Honda Fit is though. I have seen them around town and I think they are ugly.

So take my advise for what it is worth; coming from a female no less. I loved (current Isuzu owner and I think I made a mistake) all my Hondas.

NOTE NOTE NOTE:

This is a follow up regarding which car to buy.

I just wanted to let you know that when I said I think I made a mistake when I bought my Isuzu... well guess what! I was right. I am currently wanting to unload my Isuzu and I am going back to my beloved Hondas. I knew I never should have bought that damn truck two months ago. At least I didn't invest too much money in it before coming to this conclusion.

I say get the Civic...Or any other Japanese car out there. Yea, Honda/Acura are great cars. They last a long time, so you dont really need to maintain your car. (except for oil changes and small stuff like that.)

The Civic is nice, and if you get a Civic equipped with a VTEC engine, that'll be better. The car is pretty common, but it's a small, cool car to drive for a long time.

Also, try considering an Acura (Honda) Integra. They're also sporty, looks nice, saves gas and is more fun to drive then the Civic.

I own a Honda Civic...It's my second one. The first one I owned for 13 years, with practically no problems. They're great, the key is to make sure you change the oil EVERY 5,000 miles and they will run forever. I'd highly recommend them. Honda Accords are very good too. Toyota's & Nissan's are also very good...Very reliable with good resale value.

ALL the kids say Honda Honda Honda.

But if you`re going to buy something that lasts a long time, and you want realllly good MPG, and still be fast go test drive a VW Golf DIESEL. Modern diesels haul a$$$ AND give you more than 40mpg!!

here`s a report on it.

Honda Civics are nice and they run pretty good. If your looking to buy a used car. By law you can have the dealership that your interested in, allow you to take the car to a mechanic of your choice and do a diagnostic. To make sure its up to date. ALso make sure when was the last time it got smogged, last oil change, tune ups...etc..etc...

Regardless if they say " your getting a bargain, you still needing to ck! they will think all 1st time buyers are stupid and doesn't know their own rights!!!!!

good luck! and buckle up!...lol

I would get a Honda Fit. 38 MPG ! There aren't many FIT's on the street yet and aftermarket parts are starting to become available for the FIT.

Go buy a new Nissan altima. I think thats the best bang for your buck. I own a 2005 w/100000 miles on it now, and 5 when I bought it, and yet to have a problem. Good gas mileage to. around 30-32 mpg.
