Even if one has free will god knows what he every individual is going to do tommorrow and the next day and the next. Now if an individual kills someone (which is immoral for most people) God already knew he was going to commit such act.

My question is why is God going to judge us when he knows, when, why, where, and how we are going to things. Because being almight surely he knows the future.

Many philosophers say this:

That human free will and God's power of Omnipotence are not at all compatible and both cannot exist in the same universe.

If Free Will is truly Free our choices can't have already been determined by fate. The fate of the universe is therefore up to us, and not possibly predictable even by god.

Philosophers have found a bit of a loophole in this, albeit a strange one. -- that is if for every choise we make two (or more) universes are created, one for if we had made on choice, one for if we had made the other. One universe for if you had decided to have a drunken shooting spree in the Vatican, one for if you decided to sit at home and watch tv.

God can know all of these universes and we can still have free will - in a way.

If ... on the other hand God knows EveryThing and we don't have free will there is ANOTHER bugger of a problem - that is that judgement might not be possible.

Think about it this way...
If you go on a shooting spree at the Vatican on Tuesday (when kids, nuns and pregnant women get in free) but you DONT have free will then was it your fault? How can you blame an act one someone if they don't have free will? it's like calling a rockslide evil for crushing a few cars.

If you were fated to do something YOU didn't do it - your bad upbringing, drug intake, manic depressive chemical brain imbalance can be blamed but not YOU. You don't have free will and thus do things only because outside forces are pushing and pulling you. yerr.

So... unless god can get around logic somehow - which by the way the pope says he can't - NO! he can't judge us on the day when the dead rise baby!

- also - conundrum creaps me out. whew.

Well, its just like courts here on earth.

The judge already knows what his decision will be before the rest of us come to court.

The purpose isn't so that God can decide, the purpose is so that we can be there to hear his judgement.

The first time God sends a Pope to hell, I suspect a lot of people are going to be a bit surprised.

Others won't be.

And yes there will more than a few Protestant Pastors who make it.

And I don't think we'll be able to count the number of Deacons and Trustees who don't make it.

Anyway that's why there will be a judgment day.

Hey thats a good question. God is going to Judge us true indeed and I believe he will know those who are good and evil. But don't you think we would want to know what we are judged with and I believe God will tell us when that day comes. And reward us according to what we have done. "Happy are those who wash their robes clean and so have the right to eat the fruit from the tree of life, and to go through the gates into the city. But outside the city are the perverts and those who practice magic, the immoral and the murderers, those who worship idols, and those who are liars, both in words and deeds,"

This is one of those questions where my lack of Bible knowledge causes me some trouble. Yes, God does know our very thoughts as we think them and before we think them. But at the same time, we are given free will to make choices. Either to walk in light, or to walk in darkness. I personally believe God knows the outcomes to both choices that are given to us, one choice being what God has planned for us and the other being our own sinful decision. It is when we make the choice that disproves predestination.
I wish I could explain this even clearer, but this is my best shot.
Best thing to do is walk in Light and love everyone. Hold your God, Family, and Country as the reason you make each decision.

Well, I'd like to believe that God's not looking into the future to see what will happen. What I think he/it will do is X amount of years later is look at what the world will look like and decide then.

...or you could get all technical and argue that there is no God, but that's for a different discussion.

Judgement Day is more like a personal accounting. As an analogy, when we take an exam and get the results back, it gives us some understanding of where we went wrong, and how we can do better in future.

True God alreadys knows his judgement. Perhaps the courtroom scene will all be for your benefit or the other attendants. When the books are open, and your life is reviewed, you will know everything that you have done, just in case you forgot.

because he gave us a conscience and free will, and even though we know we are going against god some of us still chose to do whatever the act is instead of choosing what we know is right. and i'm not so sure that he knows what has happened as much as he knows what will happen depending on the path we choose.
just a theory though...

What are you afraid of? Have you been doing something you not supposed to have been doing?
Solomon states: “There are six things that Jehovah does hate; yes, seven are things detestable to his soul: lofty eyes, a false tongue, and hands that are shedding innocent blood, a heart fabricating hurtful schemes, feet that are in a hurry to run to badness, a false witness that launches forth lies, and anyone sending forth contentions among brothers.”—Proverbs 6:16-19.
Well??

there are many possible answers:
maybe there is no god
maybe there are many gods
maybe there is no judgment
maybe there are different kinds of judgment
maybe god(s) do(es) not know what we are going to do
maybe he/she/it/they don't care what we do, or only marginally care
maybe there are many possible futures
maybe god(s) aren't aware of the future
maybe god(s) are/could be aware of the future, but don't want to ruin the surprise (just as we could flip to the end of a book/video, but prefer to read it/watch it paly out).

maybe we should live life trying to be good, responsible people, because it's the right thing to do, regardless of our perceptions of divinity.
