I have been in Paris, to see my wife, who is shooting an American film there, and what was very nearly the first thing I read at R&S upon my return? Your question: this same tired, pointless question. This atheist does not babysit, Desiree, so ask the priest. I do so very much wish it weren't necessary to cast a light for those in the Fundy world who hold three Harvard degrees, four Pulitzer prizes, and the Nobel Peace Prize, but, what the heck: here goes. Among the 400,000 Roman Catholic priests the number of child molestors is miles less than the number of heterosexual fathers who molest their own daughters every year. Snicker no more, Desiree.

Well Catholic priests have a terrible reputation for child sexual assault, so I would think twice about getting one to look after my child. I know not all catholic priests are paedofiles, but reputations follow people around. I would choose someone I trusted to look after my child and whether he/she is of the religious faith or a non-believer really wouldnt come into it......it's their character that is the important thing.

How sad that you judge all priests because of the actions of a few.
Suppose you had a crazy aunt who stole things all the time. Would you want to be thought of as a thief also because you are in the same family as she is? That would be ok with you, I guess, since you are making fun of all priests with this little "joke."

You may believe in stereotypes. Mature adults don't.

You'll get it one day when you grow up.

I hope you have a grerat evening.

The Catholic. My grandmother was catholic and she was the best person out of anybody in our family back then and now.

There have been billions of catholic priests throughout history and they all get a bad rap because a handful of them abused children? Statistically you would have a better chance of getting hit by lightning then getting an abusive priest.

An atheist teaching my kids to live life purely for themselves? No thanks. I dont want my kids growing up being self-centered and godless. We have a responsibility to teach our kids about God. Ministry begins at home and that isnt going to happen if you hang out with atheists.

I personally do not think the Catholic priest would have enough time to be babysitting my child.

If I had to choose though, I would say whoever has the qualifications to be looking after a child, and whoever I personally know well enough to trust them with the care of my child...

Hello, Desiree:

Hard choice, but I know one thing, If I was a Catholic and had been told the priest could forgive sins, I'd leave pronto.

Jesus said unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharasees, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. That tells me not to put your faith in any person.

A Bible code proves Jesus is the Messiah, you can trust Him with your children. Select http://abiblecode.tripod.com
