What ?? Broken Laws. What makes you think the innocent should spend time in Prison ? There are thousands of people who have not broken the Laws. I do feel though, however, that if more people realized what Prison is like they would hesitate to break any Laws. Some Prisoners, committed crimes, while under the influence of Liquor or Drugs. If they were sober, they would not have committed terrible crimes. Our Minister used to say in his prayers with the Congregation. Pray for the ones in Prison. I now know what he meant. Many Suffer in Prison and have been given stiff life sentences. I believe everyone should take a tour of the Prisons for one day. But I do not believe innocent people should not even serve one hour of Prison time, behind bars, for crimes they did not commit.

I've committed traffic violations... been caught, paid my tickets... Paying tickets is much more effective than a prison term, since prison provides a roof over your head and free meals (at taxpayer's expense). A ticket means, I still have to pay my other bills AND pay the ticket... as well, I have to MAKE time in my schedule to go and deal with the ticket BEFORE the due date... meaning I will probably have to take time off from work.

The inconvenience and expense of traffic tickets has slowed me down and made a much, much better driver of me.

Let the punishment fit the crime. Other than traffic violations (mainly speeding), I have not broken any other laws...

If I didn't know better, I'd guess either you've done some prison time or have loved ones who have or are currently doing prison time; kind of a "maid in waiting", for them to re-emerge free once again.

Why I wouldn't all be surprised (much) if you just jumped out to inculde "The ONLY difference between me and the 5-O (cops) is THEY haven't been caught yet!!!".

You fit your nickname/handle quite well: that's pretty much the only thing I can agree with here.

yea, im gonna go with no on that one...prison is supposed to be there to rehabilitate prisoners. i mean it doesnt work but that's the "function" prison is supposed to accomplish. if your a true criminal, then of course, you need to spend time in prison. but sending anyone who has not broken any laws or even just did something extremely petty, prison shouldnt be a destination for them

No way. Prisons are for people convicted of felonies, which means convicted of a crime that requires 'a year and a day.' If you want to spend time in a prison, commit a felony...although I would not recommend it.

Not everyone has broken a law at some time or another. Unless of course being a dumb *** is a crime.

What kind of crazy idea is that? There isn't even room for any more prisoners and there's no more money to house them. Are you a socialist democrat?

well many laws are bullshit, and many people are caught in certain predicaments and end up committing crimes, but aren't true criminals. It wouldn't be just, not to mention the fact that many unjust things happen(involving the law) every day.
