I ask the same question in a different matter daily and all you will get from this qestion is some preachy christian telling you to repent your soul or you are going to hell. They fear the truth and accept faith over well researched theory.

nothing--
People sometimes avoid a lot of people who don't think or believe in the same way that they do...it makes them uncomfortable. Religion is a great unequalizer not only among athiests and christians but among all the faiths of the world who have different protocols--ironically all 'religion' is based in doing no harm and treating each other well, even athiests love one another, and treat others with respect and consideration. It doesn't matter if one doesn't believe in God, or the same god as anyone else...they are still human and we should treat everyone equally, humanely and without judgement.
Show the same respect for others beliefs as you would want shown for your own, and be happy no matter what--it's hard to resist a person who is happy with their choices. IMO, real religion is being at peace with reality.
something to think about:
"In ancient times, humans honored and worshipped their leaders, because they were convinced that unseen and powerful gods led and directed them. As knowledge increased and spread to the masses, these unseen gods were replaced with other intangible gods which had just as much power over the minds and motives of the people. Whatever god is chosen, the leaders maintain control over the people by perpetuating and promoting the god in which the people believe.
Unseen gods religiously motivate humans to revere the whole to which the individual belongs, subjecting all to the will of these mysterious forces. These gods are known and accepted because people have placed their faith and support in their leaders who have convinced them of the supernatural essence in which they believe.
It can be profoundly stated that a “god” is the equivalent of a Powerful Human Motivator. By utilizing this knowledge, leaders establish themselves above others, fulfilling their true nature of individual self-awareness; but are never able to satisfy their followers’ desires to arrive at the same awareness.
Being the wise ones that they are, humans soon developed a Powerful Human Motivator (a god) that would allow them, whether leader of follower, to maintain the illusion that their existence was indeed leading to a full self-awareness of their individuality. They created specific values to be placed on each other and the resources of the natural earth. These values would always sustain a continual state of distinction and division, assuring individuality—the balance of their happiness."

it means that your existence is meaningless and that you might as well do what you want since there are no consequences for your behavior. the bad side of that is life would become nothing more than survival of the fittest. so believing in a god (choose one) at least gives us something to aspire to and hopefully create a world that god would be proud of.

This is my personal belief it is not an attack on anyone.

For me there is no difference between believing in no God and believing in Allah or Buddha. They are all going to hell. That doesn't mean I avoid them. God came to seek and save those that are lost. He didn't come to hang out with those who believed but those that needed direction. I enjoy debate otherwise I wouldn't be on R&S. Occasionally I think someone is actually looking for advice but mostly it is about debating with those who believe differently and getting someone elses point of view.

There is nothing bad about not believing in god.

Just like there is nothing bad about not believing in
unicorns, bigfoot, loch ness monster, leprechauns, and so on.

Also, ALL people are atheist about every other god except the one they believe in.

Whats bad for you if u dont believe in God, is that after u die... well, the people who do believe in God trust that we can get to Heaven, and Atheists who dont beleive in God have no hope in eternal life with God. With out God, this is what life WOULD be like...

Not too great for none-believers.

You've never know fear - I mean, real fear - until you've looked into the eyes of a dying atheist.

Someone who spent their whole life blaspheming their very own Maker; they know - somehow they know - they are about to face Him in one final judgement.

Absolutely terrifying.

I pray it doesn't happen to you.
