The torque specs. and tightening sequence on the cylinder heads for a 2001 F-150 5.4L engine is as follows:

Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.
Stage 3: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

The best thing to do is to get a repair manual. It will give the torque specs and the sequence to tighten the bolts. Just from memory, I think it is 85 ft/lbs

32 lbs.
then tighten 90 degrees
then after that, another 90 degrees, but make sure the bolts are new

check with ford some of the new engines require new bolts to be used
