I am not that good in the kitchen, since i am likely to burn water. This is what you do, swallow your pride and pay starbucks for your coffee. They make good coffee and nothing compares to their coffee.

I just use a small Mr. Coffee Pot that makes 4 cups. I only put enough water for like 2 cups. I just use regular Maxwell House and measure enough to suit me. I use the 4 cup coffee filters. You can put everything together the night before, so you won't feel rushed in the morning. And then turn it on when you get up. I buy the Amaretto Creamer. It's so tastey. Don't pay $3 for coffee. If you want to make those special coffees with the foam, you need another type coffee pot, and you are getting into more time and effort. That comes with practice.

I admit I am a Starbucks addict, or as I call them "Four Bucks", as that's the least amount of $ you can spend there per visit. Try adding a shot of espresso to your morning coffee, or even some chocolate syrup for that mocha taste. You can also buy a small frother gidgit at Bed Bath and Beyond for pretty cheap that'll make a great cappuccino. I do also think the coffee tastes better because of the entire experience... the paper cup, the cardboard holder, the music in the store, etc. I think that adds to the entire experience of getting coffee and makes the coffee taste that much better...

Start with good coffee. 100% Kona is a good choice. I am partial to aged Sumatra. A drip cone filter works just fine, although there are more purist ways to make a great cup of coffee (like with a coffee press). My espresso maker brews a cup of coffee with foam (crema) on top, and is also very tasty. If you can afford a daily latte for $3.00, you can certainly afford a pound of Pete's coffee for $14.00 (aged Sumatra). Get the whole beans and grind them yourself to preserve the flavor. Do not put it in your freezer to maintain the flavor, that is a myth. Freezing the beans ruins the subtlety of the taste. 100% Kona is about $50.00 per pound, but you can get it on line for less.

Here’s what I did:
I bought my favorite coffee. It was the same kind my wonderful grandmother drank. I made the minimum amount according to the recipe on the can. I tasted it. I THOUGHT it needed to be a little stronger.
The next day, I made it a little stronger. I made the minimum amount. I wasn’t looking for demi-tasse, but that’s the way it sort-of turned out to be. It tasted a little too strong.
The following day I made the minimum amount just a little weaker. It tasted fine to me. AND that’s the way I adjusted my morning coffee.
NOW I can make 12 cups at a time and it comes out the way I want - every time.
The recipe on the can is only a guide as far as I’m concerned.
It’s a matter of “trial and error” - until its made the way you want it. IF you have difficulty remembering what you did, write it down so you have something to refer to.
Thank you for asking your question. You did a great job - not only for your information, but for every other person interested in reading a sensible, qualified answer - my answer.
TYVM!
I wish you well!
VTY,

I make regular coffee, and a little milk, a bunch of sugar, and a packet of Hot chocolate mix. I never liked coffee until I had a Moolatte from Dairy Queen .Then my boyfriend made coffee one day and I tried this. Its hot unlike Moolatte's but I cant drink coffee any other way. This is really good. You could also add whipped cream on top.

First of all, start out with a good coffee perculator - we use one from the late 60's/early 70's(the same one my mamaw used when I was a little girl - made by Sunbeam) Fill to the line, then add 3tablespoons of coffee to the metal basket ( we only use Maxwell House French Roast)......Serve with your favorite mixtures - my sweetie is sugar only, while I love flavored creamers.......Enjoy!!

I use my Senseo coffee machine to make one cup of coffee..then I heat up some Silk Chocolate Soy Milk in the microwave until its a little more than warm and then I mix the two together..sometimes you can add sugar if its not sweet enough but it makes a FABULOUS mocha! You can buy (senseo coffee makers) at Target and the coffee pods you put in them too..I use Dark Roast.

I make a full pot every morning, and it is always excellent.
If you make the same amount every day, experiment with the amount of coffee until you get it to your liking. Then use t he same amount every time.
I prefer Colombian coffee, but your taste may be different.
I use an electric peculator, so it perks the same length of time every time, too, about 12 minutes. Perked coffee does taste better.

Well I have a machine, but I also like to make my own sometimes. I buy a big can with the crushed up coffee beans and put it on the stove. I like sugar =P and sometimes milk.
I've also been told that cold coffee tastes delicious. all you got to do is put ice in your coffee! :D

...first you'll need the "coffee" you like... I'm a French Roast fan myself..."bold and rich"... then a good coffee maker (Wal-Mart has lots of them)... some filters and some "good" water.
(not from the sink(... get some bottled water... read the cup to water directions... I make a full 12 cup pot using "3" heaping table-spoon's of coffee... let it do it's thing... that's it... then of course if your put all the extra crap in like sugar and milk and whatever... I like it HOT and BLACK... enjoy.
