AN average 70 year old 200 pound male should be able to walk 3 MPH; that's 20 minutes for an average person. Some younger people of the same weight, male or female, may be able to walk or even jog at a faster pace. Some older people of lesser weight may require the same 20 minutes to cover one mile. People who exercise regularly can usually do better in the one mile test. Take your pick. If a person is motivated, he or she can usually do better. The record for an olympic one mile sprint is under 4 minutes. Now that is moving!

When I was a child, I walked a mile and one tenth to and from school in fifteen minutes (Now, I'm lucky if I can walk a block in a half an hour! Of course, I'm walking with two canes as a result of having three heart attacks and two strokes, but, still....).
Thanks for the two points. Good luck!
