No.

Faith in imaginary characters is bad.

Take the first answer - it's a story about a man hearing voices and almost killing his kid.

It happens several times a year in real life, you know.

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

In 1971 I entered The Garden Tomb in Jerusalem. I was with a woman who was a devout believer. I was definatly not. I had been in The tomb before and was not really interested in it at all but she wanted to pray. There was no one else in the garden at that early hour except two who were with us and they were waiting at the other end of The Garden.

When this woman knelt to pray I clearly heard a voice of reat authority... not some booming voice from the heavens...nothing hollywood special effects... not a shout... just a voice of authority... saying to me "Get out you are not welcome here"...even as one who had no use for the religious crap and was a mocker of the bible thumpers... I knew who that voice was... and I got the hell out of there...when I met the ones waiting they saw I was upset and asked why... I just said I was feeling weak because we had not had breakfast yet... but I was, to say the least very upset with the experience... When the woman I was with came out she was literaly a changed person... she said that she had been haveing a crisis of faith and that while in the tomb such a sate of peace had come over her she was convinced that God was there with her... I asked her if she had heard any thing like a voice... not saying I had... and she said she had heard nothing... just that she had experience a great wave of peace and that her faith was greatly stregthened... I suppressed the incident and did not concider it for 29 yrs... I finaly came to God on May 6, 2000. The next day I was led, I believe by God, to a little church. it happened to be communion sunday...When I took my first communion as a Christian and when I had drank from the cup, I said in my heart "thank you God"... I clearly heard, in that same authorative voice "You are Welcome"... some day I want to return to that garden and that tomb... I know now that I will also be welcomed there... I also want to visit all the Holy sites I dismissed during my time in Israel... I want to see them with my new eyes...

Laying hands on a person and praying for healing and having it happen instantly. Praying for the salvation of a friend, and after many years, having them turn to God. Being able to get through all the hard things in life and still trust in him.
