Can we really be sure there is more evil than good in the world or does the evil just get the most publicity because exceptions to the norm are more newsworthy than things that are commonplace?
If there really was more evil than good, then violent crimes should be orders of magnitude higher than they are in the world. Violent crime is measured in single and double digits, within population bases of 100,000 people. Of the approximately 50 million people who died worldwide in 1990 (approximately eight-tenths of one percent of the world population), only 1.4% of those were from intentional, violent crime. [In the USA in 1997, violent personal crime affected only 4% of the over-12yr population.] These numbers should be vastly higher in a vastly-evil world.
If life really were more evil than good, then humanity might have killed itself off long ago, by a combination of homicide, genocide, suicide, xenocide. But somehow, life “outruns” self-destruction in our history.
If life really were more evil than good, then the headlines of the nightly news would not captivate us very well…Plane crashes of hundreds of fatalities, earthquakes with similar body counts, serial killers of dozens of people would all be virtually trivialized by the daily experience in each life on earth(!) of "majority evil". If evil were the majority (i.e., more “bad” than “good”), news of it would not be "news" in the least, and the horrors of concentrated points of evil in history (e.g. the Holocaust, the western Slave Trade) would not provoke such moral outrage or pessimism over human nature as they do and the news would be dominated by stories about good because good was so rare it would be newsworthy.

For starters, communism, when it is done right, is a good thing. and you are getting evil mixed up with the not so good. Just because YOU don't think something is good, doesn't necessarily make it so. More good happens every day than evil. Just being able to walk outside without needing some kind of pass proves it. just being able to walk into any church or government building makes it so

Satan, the Bible tells us, offered Jesus “all the kingdoms of the world and their glory” in exchange for one act of worship. (Matthew 4:8-10) Essentially, Jesus was offered world rulership—but on the Devil’s terms. Jesus did not fall prey to this temptation. Was it really a temptation, though? Could Satan actually make such a grandiose offer? Yes, for Jesus himself called the Devil “the ruler of the world,” and the apostle Paul described him as “the god of this system of things.”—John 14:30; 2Â Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 6:12.
Of course, Jesus knew that the Devil does not have mankind’s best interests at heart. He described Satan as “a murderer” and as “the father of lies and of all that is false.” (John 8:44, The Amplified Bible) Obviously, a world “lying in the power” of such a wicked spirit can never be truly happy. (1Â John 5:19) But the Devil will not have this authority indefinitely. Jesus, will shortly depose Satan and completely eliminate his influence.—Hebrews 2:14; Revelation 20:1-3

This has made me think....what would Good look like on a mass scale...people doing nice things for each other, even against their will? (raises one eyebrow)
I believe that Good does exist on an epic scale in our world. Every time we experience a natural disaster, we see that, even though tragedy has happened, we have people who will sacrifice much to assist those in need.
Unfortunately, "Good" isn't as media-worthy. (not a criticism, just a fact)

Evil says that Freedom is a right and free to all and you can do whatever you want when every you want with whomever you want. Evil doesn't care about the unwanted children that are abondoned or worse, aborted. Evil doesn't care about love or living up to your responsibilities to your fellow person. Evil only cares about getting its own way.
God (or Goodness) says, freedom isn't free. True freedom takes commitment and sacrifice. Takes self control and integerity. God tells us there is a time and a place for everything...but not everytime or everyplace is correct. God wants our happiness and joy and peace to expound.
How can anyone be truly happy alone...unable to trust anyone. Unable to trust yourself...unable to have a moments peace because either someone is trying to hurt you or take advantage of you. Evil doesn't tell you that this is your reward...only tells you to do what feels good now.
Goodness tells us that, yes, it isn't going to be fun at first. But if you do what is right...your reward is peace in your spirit...the ability to look at yourself in the mirror and like the person you see.
Why don't we see it on the huge scale. Evil is easy. Evil is base. Evil doesn't care about long term. Evil looks good in the here and now...and doesn't want you to look past it. Like I said...it is easy.
Goodness takes time and commitment. Takes Forward thinking. Takes people of strong character. Goodness starts with the individual not the crowd.
Not to mention that evil is always trying to destroy goodness.

That's an outstanding question! I can't claim to have any answers to it. But do you think it's inherent in the nature of good and evil? Your metaphor of mass-production, for example. Who wouldn't rather have a hand-crafted piece of wooden furniture than a stamped sheet-metal and molded-plastic disposable item? But one is costly, and the other isn't.
I think personally, that good and evil are not coequal forces in the universe. But rather evil is the lack of goodness. For goodness can only be attained through costly effort, vigilance, thoughtfulness, etc. "All that is required for evil to flourish," on the other hand, "is for good men to do nothing."
Peace to you.

It has to do with the dark times we live in.
The good part of it is that people get tired of the misery and go looking for something that is not so easy to find, since the source of all Goodness is unseen.
Here is something good that is mass produced on the internet....

I have a question for you, the answer will tell you what you want to know. There are two roads, one leads to Heaven and the other to hell. Do you see them? What are the width of the roads? In truth the path is what leads to Heaven, the width of one man Jesus. The road to hell is a six lane highway. Which is easier to walk?

Goodness does not make the news. Evil does. It ought to be just the opposite.

Because the Road to heaven is narrow. Sin is attractive or fun to the world, because what seems right to man is not right to God. People choose they think they want or need over what God KNOWS the need and want . Than it ends up getting them in a hole, and they lose the 'faith' they think they had. Or they blame God for all the madness in the world when really its their fault the world is so messed up.
