Yesssssssssss!! Definetly! I am a product of this myself. It is truly a hopeless feeling to think you are trapped there. You are not trapped even tho your mind seems to think so. You need to keep searching for a healthier solution. It has taking me a long time and alot of courage to move from that sort of place,,,,dont despair and keep trying to improve, you can do it and you can repair some of your life afterwards.

I often say that there are two distinct groups here but they're not theists and atheists. They're rational people and idiots. And belief or lack of doesn't determine what group someone is in. However I also don't think the people who are claiming someone is "belittling their beliefs" are necessarily in the rational group either. Anyone posting a question in a public forum is actively inviting all possible answers. I see people every day here claiming someone is 'persecuting' them when it's impossible to be persecuted online. In fact I would say the majority here don't even know what real persecution is. === 'The Reverend Soleil' has a good point. People here make claims all the time they can't support and yet insist others should believe the. People make wildly inaccurate generalizations that are by their nature wrong. There are many instances here where people simply get what they give. == "belittle- to cause (a person or thing) to seem little or less. " I know this wasn't directed to me but how does someone make someone else seem less without the help of the individual who feels 'less'? There is no one here who could possibly write anything to make me feel 'less'. There's nothing anyone could say here to offend me. It's just words on a screen. An open forum is not the place for someone who is thin skinned or easily offended. There are private invitation only forums where people like that can go. YA is not intended to be and will never be anything other than what it is; an open forum where within broad guidelines anything goes. In fact i think YA bends over backward to accommodate those who are easily offended with violation notices. I myself got one for posting "I don't understand your question".

You know I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but your attitude sucks. If you can have a paradigm shift and change your attitude you will find that no mater what situation you are in you will be better off than what you are. Look at Anne Frank. With all the death and distruction she saw she kept a positive attitude and helped other through their despair. So get an attitude of gratitude and take action. Gratitude is being grateful for what you do have. If you keep looking at the negative you will see the negative but if you at least are thankful for the little you have you will see that its not so bad. I wish I still had my grandmother. But I don't but I don't sit here an cry over it I keep her warm loving moment in the front of my mind when I think of her., this helps me be grateful for even having to blessing to be a part of her life. But if you have depression and it is a symptom of somthing more serious you need to see someone who will help you. Depression is nothing to fool around with. So in saying seek help and change your focus.

Yes, I believe your surroundings affect your mental health. I lived in Arkansas all my life, then at age 37, I had had enough and had a chance to move to another state and start a new life.....I took that chance and haven't looked back.....I have now lived in Texas for 9 years and have no desire to go back to Arkansas...
My house is a mess, I'm not much on cleaning, and I haven't had much company partly because of my messy house but even that is about to change....I've got some friends at church who are interested in helping me with my house and once it gets cleaned up I am going to make a conscious effort to keep it nice and have friends over once in a while for a swimming party or just for tea and visiting.
Sorry to ramble but I figured that giving you this example from my own experience would be the best way to answer your question.
Hope it helps.

Yes living conditions definetly can effect your mental health.
You already know that. You state it depresses you, sounds like you are embarrassed to have anyone see your living conditions and you isolate yourself....not healthy.
Any way you can move the do it!
Look for all avenues of possibilities. Rooming with someone, going to college and living in a dorm(student loans). Living with a different family member, sometimes it takes asking.
Find a room to rent if you can't afford your apt.

I partly don't believe. The question is are you willing to get out from that "prison"?It is a matter of attitude. Because anywhere you live whether be it on the streets or a mansion, if you got a negative attitude towards life, then you will never be contented with what you have. If you hate where you live now, then get out from that "prison".Allow God to change you and become a better person out of "prison". Cast away fear, and don't mind what people say, its your life. Be happy.

Hi
Yes I totally agree with what you are saying. It sounds like you need to move. Is there anyway you can move to another house?
A change can be such a good thing for helping depression. A change of surroundings is like a new start.
If its not possible to move (coz I know this is easier said than done) maybe you should try decorating the place just to make it feel different. Try changing about the furnisher as well.
Good luck and I hope you feel happier soon.

I suggest you apply for Social Security Disability benefits and get your own place once you are approved. You will need medical records indicating your depression and an attorney to handle your case. It doesn't cost any up front money to apply or get an attorney. Then the longer you wait for approval of your claim, the more backpay you will receive. I got over 40 thousand dollars and had to wait 3 years in homeless shelters before I got approved. Good Luck!

You know...that's not such a big problem...it's only in your mind! Let your friends visit you, you'll see it's no big deal. You should see where some of my friends live :)) What do you think about a duck hanging around the kitchen, which is also a garage? That's cool with me...i drink my coffee on the house when i go there and i love it :)))

Yes, this is very true, your inviroment has alot to do with the way you feel, if possible you need to change where you leave and how you look at life. Porkchop 1633 I know you mean well but you should be more sensitive, you don't really know what people are going through.
