At least in my country u wouldn't say "necesito direcciones".... It's not common language and we would be confused as to what you need.

We'd rather say "Por favor, necesito saber como ir/llegar a.........." or "necesito instrucciones para.... (ir/llegar a....) / (encontrar X lugar)........"

Necesito direcciones.
But say you need directions to like the bathroom for instance. You would say :
"Necesito direcciones para el bano."

Necesito direcciones para ______ <--in other words.

"Direcciones" in Spanish are "addresses"
So you have to say:
Necesito indicaciones para ir a......
"I need directions to go to....."

You say, "Yo necesito direcciones".

Another way is, "Yo necesito direcciones para llegar a "__".
Which means "I need directiones to get to "__".

And afterwards, say "muchas gracias" which means Thank You very much.

"Necesito dirreciones por favor?" Means I need directions please. Always helps to be polite! Or you can add the word "al" after "dirreciones" which mean "to" or I need dirrections TO the park etc. You won't need the "the" often.
