This is NOT a silly question. It's actually a very good one.
Since you're specifying Sunday, I'll assume you are Christian. In that case, you are "exempt" from Mosaic Law. You are supposed to "...love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind..." (Mark 12:30, KJV) As long as you are not breaking that commandment, you are free to work on Sunday.
Sorry, you still have to do your homework. ;-)

No its not a silly question. Its good to evaluate your self in light of what we're told in Scripture. As has been stated before. Saturday is the seventh day and therefor the one that God made Holy at the creation of the world. So even if you were speaking about the Sabbath, I would look at what the Sabbath is all about. Exodus 20:8-11 gives us what the Sabbath is. It is a day for us to Remember, to keep Holy (because He made it that way), to rest from those daily activities we normally do. What do we remember? We remember when it was that He made it Holy, meaning, the 7th day (Saturday) also included in the when would be at creation. He wants us to remember that He created the Heavens and the Earth, that He is the Creator and therefor is the Supreme Object of our Worship. We should do things on the Sabbath that direct our attention to Him, and not on us. So that is a decision that you have to make between you and He, weather or not homework is something that focuses your attention on Him or on you.
God bless in your search for a deeper understanding of God.

I love this question.
You are totally correct..the Sabbath was given to mankind as a day of rest, not a day of worship. Nobody, not even the kids, were supposed to work on that day...and this was in a time before there were ANY modern conveniences at all...if you wanted water, you had to carry it from the well...and that might be a mile or so away! So, a day off of work was not something to take lightly...if you didn't get all your work done, you didn't eat, and that was that. The people who lived around the Israelites considered them a lazy bunch for taking a whole day off...
But it wasn't a day of worship. People did worship on that day, but the Temple, and the synagogues were open for worship every day of the week.
But that was then, and this is now. Today, people take all of our conveniences for granted, and a day off is no big deal...we don't even realize that our entire culture honors God's Sabbath of rest by making Saturday THE day when everything happens...baseball games, picnics, lake parties, dates, fishing...
Song lyrics:
"Another Saturday night, and I ain't got nobody...I got some money cuz I just got paid..."
(I can think of bunches more, and I'll bet you can, too!)
And then there are whole groups of silly people who argue over which is the proper day to worship...
The proper day to worship is any day that ends in "y"...
But, as for your question...
Actually, you should have gotten all of your homework done before the weekend began...
Very naughty of you to wait 'till the last minute.
If you get bad grades this year, don't blame God.

Sundown friday to sundown saturday is that sabbath of the Lord.
How many commandments of man are used to nullify the commandments of God?
If Jesus said that if you love him, you will keep HIS commandments, what commandments is Jesus referring to?
And if they are different than the 10 commandments, then how can that change yet GOD does not change?
And if the 10 commandments are done away with, why is there still sin?
Sin is the transgression of the law, and what is the law? it is laid out in the 10 commandments given to man by God... And a common doctorinal error taught in modern apostate christinaity is that the commandments of God are no longer valid yet sin remains today... That is a conflict because in order for sin to remain, there must be a transgression of Gods law.
And if you did some research, law and commandment is interchangeable in the hebrew, what the old testament was written in not including most of the book of Daniel, which was written in Aramic.
To be ignorant of such things will bring yourself to your own destruction.

Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest...yet Jesus himself healed a man on the Sabbath day, and he said that if a person's ox falls in a pit on the Sabbath day, he should pull the ox out. In other words, some things may come up that require you to work on the Sabbath day. In that case, it's OK. So if you have a homework assignment that you can't get done adequately unless you work on it on Sunday, then it's OK for you to work on it.

I take a break from homework on Saturday, which is the Sabbath. If I have studied well enough on the other days, God always adds the rest. In fact just took a test, and did just as well as the people who studied all of Saturday. They didn't believe me when I told them I didn't even open my book. But if it is Sunday, study away.
Utuk, you are very close to the truth. To your last sentence I would ask, are we free to commit adultery and steal now as well?

The Sabbath is marked from sundown to sundown, not midnight to midnight.
Sunday is not the Sabbath - Saturday is the Sabbath.
You should not do homework on the Sabbath. But the Sabbath was made for your benefit - you were not created to observe the Sabbath. And it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
And finally, Sabbath laws are meant to be observed under a Mosaic theocracy, which is not our form of government.

No. Jesus healed on the Sabbath, as referenced by means of alternative answerers. additionally; 1Sa 21:6 So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there became no bread there however the shewbread, that became taken from earlier the LORD, to place warm bread in the day while it became taken away. David ate of the shewbread and sinned not. i think of the message in scripture is obvious: Human want is bigger than custom. I kinda enjoyed what I heard an previous united states preacher say in this awhile lower back....He pronounced, if I had a mule in a ditch on Sunday, i could get him out....yet while that mule saved falling in a ditch on Sunday, i could get a sparkling mule. I agree. in case you learn and do properly at school, you won't experience obligated to later in existence. that's me now: i don't choose to artwork on Sunday, although that's double time pay, and that i in no way graduated college, so I artwork time beyond regulation often times to pay the expenses and help my relatives. with a bit of luck, if now you could learn in specific situations on Sunday with a sparkling judgment of right and incorrect, it could bring about a extra effectual preparation, extra effectual interest, and you will not could proceed to make the comparable possibilities LATER in existence. Merry Christmas, John the Baptist
