I know you need at leats one for the faucet but do you have to have one for a dishwasher connection?

The dishwasher connection is done under the sink and counter so you don't need a hole for it. Cut outs are for faucets, sprayers, soap dispensers, cook tops and optional vegetable sinks in islands.

Not any longer. I found that out when an installer put in my granite countertop 6 years ago. The faucet required the one and only hole to be drilled. The guy hooked the dishwasher into the line under the sink. Not sure if it went into the disposal or not. I was very pleased since there really was only room for the hole for the faucet in my particular sink setup.

It depends on your local building codes. Many cities are requiring a dishwasher vaccuum break to prevent the water from the dishwasher from backing up into the kitchen sink. The vaccuum breaker is typically mounted by the faucet. If this is required by code then a second hole will be needed.

1-sink
2- 3 holes for faucet
3- 1 hole for breather (dish washer ) if dish washer does not have separate drain
4- 1 hole for water filter tap if they want
