Being "their" kids does not make them property, they are living breathing human beings. No one has a right to saddle a child with their warped beliefs.

I believe it is but they have the right to raise thier children the way the want to. Hopefully when the children get older, they will learn that there is a whole big world outside of thier house. I know a few who were raised this way and ended up rejecting thier family in thier late teens. Completely leaving them. It is a possibility when you put such a choke hold on someone.

Yes, I agree that is going way too far. Segregation, exclusiveness in choosing for your kids is not a healthy way.
Kids are raised as future citizens(That is not right), But new belief system is they are the PRESENT GIFTS of the society. Till age 14 they need guidance and enough resources to learn all other religions so that they can choose what is correct to them when they are 15 years old.

I would dare say they are probably really nice, very respectable, happy, productive people.. I know several families like this...also take a look at the Duggar family (17kids) on TLC...they are happy...
I am going to home school my daughter, for high school she will go to a Christian school..but no TV...other than DVD's...The marriage thing..well I can't comment on that I haven't thought that far ahead..
They are the parents of those 5 girls, and they raised them how they thought best..so while it may be extreme for some of us..it wasn't for them.

IMO, having dealt socially and professionally with some home schooled children, I have to say that all they are doing is dmaging their children and leaving them fully unprepaired for dealing with the rest of the world.
that would be fine if they were never expected to leave the enclave, but that's not reality. Even the Amish realize their children need to know something of the world ouside in order to be able to cope and deal for when that outside world interferes and interrrupts.

Some people obviously do not think so, but anyone raised in such a way will not be prepared to enter the real world which I suppose is what their parents want, that is they want their children to always be "within the shelter of the church" and "not be of this world."
But, in fact, that is that possible. Such people are doing their children a real disservice.

It's their kids, and thier decisions to make for them. Until those kids are 18-nothing those kids can do. It is a bit far but somehow I can relate to monitoring the tv/movie deal. I do that with my kids to some degree also.
Getting married when the parents say so-well you sit and wait those kids will grow up one day and find someone who they love and they might get married without the parents permission. The tighter you hang on to your kids... the more they will rebel.

Cindy,
I imagine that the public school teachers were glad about it. A number of home-schooled children are very hard to entertain and deal with. They are in many cases not truly "schooled the way that they should be". Have a nice evening.
Thanks,

None of your business; keep out.
I know plenty families who would not let their children go to public schools; they had the time and/or money to pay for the other types of schools.
No, it is not going too far. How far is too far to look out for the current and future well-being of your children?

Ah this is what brainwashing leads to. Those poor children never stood a chance at a normal healthy life. What a waste.

Hey, private schools give you really good education and I was able to escape the Christianity that was thrust upon me. Homeschool is probably pretty iffy, but whatever works.
