--Nothing personal. No one has said that about me but I read it on here over and over. Someone says something about Jesus and is dismissed as brainwashed. Everything they say is discounted because of the way their family has brought them up or because some group influenced them. When "brainwashing" is mentioned the accusing person is convinced that the way they came about what they believe is superior. How so?
If you think atheism requires no faith, think about the big bang for a few seconds. well, what started that? I think atheism puts faith in its select scientific theories.
--Atheism feels like a dirty word, brainwashed feels like a dirty word. I do not intend to offend anyone.
--also if I believe Christianity to be true, am I guilty of brainwashing those I influence towards Christianity? Does that answer depend on your belief or disbelief of Christianity? Can you be brainwashed to believe the truth?

Thanks for reading and your response.

Everyone has submitted to the ideology with which they claim their lives are ruled.
One has to make a decision as regards what they believe and promote.
One thing I rarely see expressed here, is the fact that every opinion that people have expressed was influenced by an external ideology.
Whereas Christians know that their influence was the Bible, it seems that atheists do not realize what their influence was. They typically act as if they have had no influence over their beliefs. You know, as if they had come up with atheism all on their own. (Like each atheist invented it).
I am not saying this dogmatically, it just sometimes seems this could be true.

The plain fact is that when theism says "God did it," it's not answering anything. It's the most obvious dodge possible. You're just writing "God" for "X." So it's ironic that you ask "well, what started the big bang?"

Anyway, let me take the opportunity to remind you that the "big bang" is not an "atheist" theory. It's a cosmological model. It has nothing to do with religion at all, save insofar as religious interests have attacked it because it seems to be at odds with their Bronze Age cosmological model. Same story with evolution. You'd really do yourself a favor if you'd stop imagining that science is an attack on religion. It's simply people asking "Why?", whereas religion is people telling you "Why." And that may be exactly what people mean by "brainwashing"!

Brainwashed is a loose term in my opinion. A person can be taught to be a christian, athiest, pagen, buddist.........ect. I don't believe in the term brainwashed at all. A human should be strong enough to make their own informed decisions about spiritually. It is true many humans are weak minded and can see past the end of thier noses. I guess they just have to rely on what they have been taught and not expand themselves to a higher level.

Good point, thanks.
My Son's favorite quote is this" It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." Aristotle
My son's national honor roll two years in a row and is a believer.
He can choose whatever he likes.
He's definitely not brainwashed!

I like the way you approached the topic.
Blessings.

Sounds like you have some conflicts about your own faith. Are you brainwashed, confused or both?

Hi I am brainwashed and proud of it...apparently I am also a misguided fool...who does nothing for society other than making it a worse place to live.....So if believing in Jesus Christ makes me brainwashed..then I am proud of it in fact if someone wants to make me a sign that says...

I am a brainwashed, misguided, fool...ask me why...I would be happy to answer it...So with that said would that make me crazy too????

Good Question I enjoyed it, I will step off of my soap box now and hand it back to you...=) God Bless be proud that you are brainwashed too...wear that badge with honor..the more that call us that and think we are crazy ...the more we know that we are doing our job and spreading the gospel.
