I'd like to to the Northern part of Cyprus from Istanbul, Turkey and I'd appreciate any tips and advices about the cheapest way of getting there, iIncluding information about how much time does it take, how much does it cost, which city am I going to arrive to, etc. (I have already did some research on internal flights, so I have some info about that means of transportation.)

Thanks a lot for your help!

the best and fastest is of course by plane. THY, KTHY, Atlasjet and Pegasus have flights to N.Cyprus. Alternatively,
there are ferries from Tasucu and Mersin, and aquajet type ferries from Alanya to North Cyprus. But you will have to take a bus down there which will be over 10 hours from Istanbul. In the end, it won't be much cheaper than flying. Ferries arrive at Famagusta (Magusa) or Kyrenia (Girne). Planes land at Ercan airport which is 15 mins from Nicosia (Lefkosa), and half an hour from Famagusta and Kyrenia.
Ferries take anything between 4 to 8 hours to sail to Cyprus. On the other hand air travel is only 1 hour 10 mins from Istanbul. I am not sure about the ferry tickets. They seem cheap at first glance, but then they ask you to pay some taxes at the harbor and the total comes close to airfare.

edit: please get out Andreas. You are not helping peace efforts at all. All you know (and the likes of you) is to beat up Turkish Cypriots who go shopping in the south. We have lots of new hotels in the north which we built (not old GC ones). And by the way, what did you built on my dad's million-pound worth property in Limassol? And why did you destroyed by grandmom's house?

Don't go to north Cyprus . It's illegal state , recognized only by Turkey and if you go there that means that you support criminals and stealers. FREE CYPRUS.

Going to jail is always fast, easy, and free of charge, so don't worry!!.....

"If you want to visit Cyprus you should visit south part and enter from legal ports of Larnaka, Pafos or Limassol seaport. If you enter from illegal ports you might not be able to travel through the whole island and if you stay at the north part the legal owners of the hotels there (legal owners are the greek-cypriots that leave now on the south part or all over the world since their houses and land have been violently taken away from them)can bring the matter to Europe Justice and sue the tourists that stayed there"
