What makes for a good Christian? I ask because I realize that it's a tough walk of life. I'm hoping to gain some insight and knowledge as I would like to be a good Christian. Is there any advice you could give me?

Practice what you preach
Love God, love others despite our faults and love yourself because God does not make junk.
Walk in the way of God's commandments and the church
Be attentive to others needs and be attuned when you celebrate the liturgy at your church etc.
Pray always and keep the faith .By praying always I mean if you give to God your prayers and actions for God's glory you are praying. Sit down with His word and ponder it.

Go to several Christian churches, to see the differences within each. When you find one that makes you feel right about it, talk to the pastor about taking lessons and obtaining literature about the way that particular branch of Christianity does things. If you are sure that this is the one for you, attend all services and Bible Classes, learn all prayers, etc.
In any denomination of Christianity, you will find The Ten Commandments. Memorize them, and live by them, the best you can.

By not thinking that "being a Christian" makes them good. Or better.

well the one main thing is you gotta believe in christ if u do then ur a good christian as well as u pray to him and read the bible and if possible go to church

start a relationship with him and get to know how and
let the Lord shine through you so he can show himself to others

Hate gay people, stand outside abortion clinics with signs, march in favor of the death penalty, apparently god likes all those things.
