Not necessarily following Jesus, but what Jesus taught. So, basically, live a life where you help people and you'll be fine. But, granted, if you want to help people spiritually or something else like that, you sort of need to read the entier Bible. But take time, because the Bible has the sleeping curse where you can only read for about 15 minutes and then you fall asleep. But other then that, I think you'd be fine with just following what Jesus taught, which I suppose you sort of need to read what Jesus taught. So, it's up to you.

If you are going to ask and answer questions on Yahoo Answers, you should read the entire Bible at least twice. Otherwise, you will probably find that the atheists know more about the Bible and what it really says than you do.

you pose an interesting question. Is reading and doing enough.
the answer is both yes and no. The yes part of it, is that Jesus tells you to accept him as savior. He is more than just a good moral man, more than a prophet or teacher. He is God in the flesh who lived without sin to die for our sins.
The no part of the answer is if you don't accept Him as savior then you can live perfectly as he says to do and you will not go to heaven.
The bible contains the testimony of men, angels, demons and God. It is the Word of God, that is, it is God given.
In the bible, you have all that you need to lead you to godilness. The bible is also the only book that has both blessings and curses associated with it. The blessing is that if you read it, you will grow spiritually, if you remove parts from it, you will suffer for you don't alter what God has said and not be punished at some point.
Salvation comes through the LORD to all that call on his name. You need that relationship with Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Then and only then will the bible come alive for you in ways you will be amazed at.
You know that if you spend a lot of time thinking about something you can understand a lot of it. The bible is spiritual in nature. The natural man, that is, one who is not in Christ, can spend his entire life looking at it and not gain the insight of a school boy of age 6 who loves Jesus. The difference is the illumination that the Holy Spirit gives to the faithful in Christ.
There is a website for the watch tower dot org. This group of people believe that Jesus is the arc angel Micheal. They teach that he died and rotted in the grave. This is in direct opposition to the written bible.
Be very careful what you decide to believe. Your eternity hangs in the balance.
I am told that followers of islam don't know if they are going to heaven or hell. They are at the whim of the god they worship.
Jesus is not like that. He is God, and he wants a loving relationship/fellowship with you. You know where you stand with God and you know what is right and good in his sight.
you are on the right track. Remember to pray and meditate on the word of God, read the bible as it feeds your spirit, fellowship with like minded believers and witness your faith to those who are perishing.

You should read through the entire Bible at least once. Hearing the Word and doing it is a wonderful thing, but it's impossible to do in your own strength. You need the Holy Spirit's strength and guidance.

The Bible is centered around Christ. Every bit of it. It all ties in together with Christ at the epicenter. The OT is all about His inevitable coming, and the events leading up to it.
Then a silence lasting 400 years. That's roughly twice the age of our country.
Then comes John the baptist, and heaven is finally heard from again. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, as it was written, telling of the kingdom of God that was at hand.
The rest og the NT tells us of Christ's fulfilling of prophecy, ascension, and the beginning of the Christian church.
It is all relevant. But it is the following of Christ's teachings that leads one to heaven. Living a holy life, and honoring the Father in heaven through the only begotten Son, and the shedding of His blood to wash away the sins of the world.

Enough for what? Salvation? it could be.
If you read the bible for "let's see what happens' reasons you are doing it with wrong motives then.
Jesus did so many wonderful things that reading just the gospels is VERY enlightening.

It is enough to read and follow what Jesus taught...I prefer red-letter editions of the New Testament to find it faster.

There is MUCH to 'do'...PRAY, PRAY, PRAY & then PRAY some more!!!!! If you are truly a 'humble', 'open' & an 'honest' person, truly and 'wholeheartedly' "searching for God", He WILL hear you!!!!
Read this >Hebrews 11:6.
You could check out the following website -SERIOUSLY CHECK IT OUT!!! Don't 'pre-judge' it based on what you may 'have heard', or may 'assume'...(After all, is that what Jesus would do? >"Judge a book by it's cover"? >Listen to 'gossip' & 'rumours'?...) What would it hurt for you to go to the site for 2 minutes???? (No-one even needs to know...)

hi...... In my opinion, if you don't read the whole Bible you are only 1/2 a Christian; for you lack the insights and relationship with God, which I consider the FOUNDATION of which Jesus is the structure and the Holy Spirit gives it all life.
Peace be with you :)
