just went to the eye doctors today to change my perscription for my glasses and he told me that I have an astigmatism and that i'll need to have my eye pressure tested or something like that, and I started having a panic attack.
since i was young ive had this huge fear of anything touching the eye...i cant even watch people put in contacts...and now im going to have a machine touch my eyeball.
im absolutly terrified and cannot stop crying...i need help, has anyone ever had this done and how is it?

I had my eyes pressure tested back in March because my optometrists office had just gotten this new machine and were encouraging their patients to benefit from it. It was very simple. You look at this fixed point through the lens and it blows a puff of air - just like everyones been saying - onto your eye and it takes a reading. It's not painful at all.

No worry, it is painless & nothing actually touches your eye itself. I am assuming they are going to use the "puff of air" thing as it checks your pressure to diagnosis glaucoma. All they have you do it put your forehead up against the machine & keep your eye open. You will feel a very quick burst of air on your eye.......... your done. If this is the test they are refurring to it is painless & usually done every time you have your eyes checked anyway. It feels strange but after you have done it once you will wonder why you were scared.

Yes, I have glaucoma, and every few months the doctor has to check my pressure. I was amazed to find that they can anesthetize the eyeball, and actually touch it with a machine. Like you I am very upset at the idea of anything touching my eye, but this works, and is painless.

Don't worry about this test at all. As someone said, it's like a "puff of air". Totally painless.

What they're going to do is they're going to pop your eyeball out and immerse it in a beaker full of liquid that stings, and then they'll probe it with a sharp probe. Then they have to push your eyeball back in.

j/k lol lol lol

Yes, you need help. You're pretty hysterical about something so insignificant. Kids your age are suffering of cancer at this very moment. You really need to toughen up and cut the drama.

they do that pressure test to test for glacoma, you need to have it done to find out if you have it in the early stages, or you could go blind.
