- Darwin isn't God - where's the comparison???

Only a certain number of people believe in it-sounds like a faith

- Not the definition of faith

You call it science- but yet its a theory ,an assumption, a hypothosis

- So the atomic theory isn't science too? It's a scientific theory, read up before you post this ignorant crap.

You have dinosaur bones from "millions" of years ago-But u cant find the missing links from monkey to man (can u find me a whole missing link of at least one instead of one with an extinct pig's tooth in it)

- We never said monkeys evolved into humans. Really, read up on the subject. Find me some evidence to prove God's existence.

you say that the world is a couple billion years old-can u give me a diary or a book written during those years please

- Not even going to answer that

If you call everyone that doesnt believe stupid

- Another generalization that can apply to all religious people.

Just remember yur calling over 5 1/2 Billion people stupid

- We never said that 5 1/2 billion people are stupid. Following that logic, you are calling the 5 1/2 billion non-Christians stupid.

- Touch? Since when do you have to touch something for it to be true? I can't touch the sun, but it still exists.

- Show me the written truth. The bible? Please.

Evolution is science, not religion. There is no such things as "Darwinism". Such is a media hype word used by fundamentalist and eveangelical christians in an attempt to defame Darwin and those who prefer science, with its verifiable and reliable eveidence to anceint, middle eastern mythology.

Darwin's theory of evolution never puts forth the arguement that humans evolved from apes. It says that all life forms on this planet evolved from single cell organisms. Humans and apes, from the gentic evidence, appear to have had common ancestors, the fossilized remains of many of which have been found insufficeint quantiies to put a great deal of the trail leading to modern man together.

Evolution is no longer a theory. There is more than enough evidence to prove it as true and to accept it has scientific fact.

People are allowed to choose superstition and a personal belief in mythology of the long, dead past if they want to. However, doing so will never hamper the progress and understanding of science.

By the way, if you are so personally against science, why do you use so much of it on a regular basis? You use a computer, the telephone, a cd player, a dvd player, a car, modern sewers, modern water distribution methods, air conditioners, refrigerators, automobiles, spray cans, packaged foods, etc. These are all biproducts of modern science.

Also, in using the logic you presented, you can not touch god, nor examine its bones, nor find verifiable, reliable evidence supporting its existance then why do you believ in the same?

You "written proof" of your religious claims were written by human hands. Humans make mistakes. All of said books of scriptures have proven to be errant, contradictory and "dead wrong" as well as divisive.

You perhaps need to read more, think a great deal more and opine only regarding that which you have factual evidence to support (which may well mean that we will never hear from you again!)

May you be well, my ignorant friend.

First, you are correct in saying evolution is a theory, but incorrect in your understanding in what "theory" means in scientific terms.

Second, why do you want a book written 3 billion BC? That's just idiotic. No paper and no form of writing for a start. Even if I could produce such a book, what would it prove?

Third, 5 1/2 billion people deny evolution? Remember, don't lie. Now, how many people REALLY deny evolution. Religion doesn't automatically discount evolution.

Fourth, science doesn't necessarily require touching. Do you think someone has touched the sun to say it's hot? Or touched Saturns rings?

Actually, most countries ACCEPT (not 'believe in') evolution. America is way down on the totem pole.

I don't know how many times people will use the "Evolution is only a theory!! LOLOLZ" argument before they realize that a Theory isn't something unfounded or untested.

See: Theory of Gravity, Germ Theory, Theory of Relativity.

Science does not claim to have all the answers like religion does. It searches for them and, yes, they can be disproven or changed. But I think that's a GOOD thing. To say something is premanent and unchangable is a fallacy and a lie.

Written language did not develop until relatively recently. Moreover, when language was first put to use, most people were illiterate and uneducated (See: the foundation of Christianity).

5.5 billion people believe in God? Your God? You're telling me the entire population of Earth believes in God? Foolish. And in any case, it's been my experience that the Majority is normally stupid.

Please please please stop being so presumtious and arrogant. Read a book or two. Open your mind a little.

Your argument, that evolution is a faith, would be a lot stronger except for one thing. Evolution has been proven, studied and observed many times over, in a scientific laboratory. One of many examples, are bacteria that have evolved to become resistant to antibiotics. Your problem is misunderstanding the definition of a scientific theory. A scientific theory is nothing more than a framework of facts that explain how or why something happens. Take the theory of gravity for example, you accept this as truth. Now we have never been to Saturn, but I am sure you would agree that gravity exists in some form or another on that planet. It just wouldn't make sense for not to, because we have all this information about how and why we have gravity. Just because we have never observed evolution in humans, because of our relatively long life spans, why would you think we wouldn't evolve just as many other organisms have been proven to do. We have shown, time and time again in laboratory settings, that simple creatures can and have shown the ability to evolve. Why when it comes to other creatures, like humans, do you totally disregard these observable facts in favor of an explanation that has nothing at all to back it up, other than someone saying it is so? Creationism isn't a theory by definition. It is a hypothesis and can never advance farther, because it is untestable. On to one of your other points, that we cannot produce a book written in 3 million BC, we don't have to. We can offer you better evidence. Have you ever heard of carbon dating and the like? There are many ways that science can test items to determine how old they are. These are very accurate. So far science has shown us quite a few items, older than 6 thousand years. All you have to do is pick one. Besides, you do not have the original bible either. All you have is something that you are told is a copy of a translated version, of a version, of a version, and so on of the original. You do not have written proof. You cannot verify that it is 100% accurate. We atheist do not call everyone who believes in faith stupid, just the ones like you who try to argue ridiculous points and have no idea what they are talking about. We call the other 5 1/2 million brainwashed, naive, delusional and even insane at times. Call me when you get a braincell instead of guessing.

SCIENCE!

Just because not everyon agrees doesn't make it religion. Even if everyone in the world agreed, that would be a certain number of people.

Calling a theory is calling it science -- science deals with theories.

The so-called "missing links" between man and apes have been found -- that is widely known.

I won't call people who don't believe in evolution stupid, I'd call them stubborn for refuse to give up what they want to believe and accept what the evidence tells.

Belief in the theory of evolution is common among Pagans, Buddhist, and most other religions, despite being invented by a Christian (Darwin was a Christian and a pastor) -- and many Christians believe it too.

With religions you have written accounts, which are not proof. With evolution there is hard evidence. It has even been recreated in the laboratory -- yes, people have seen evolution happen.

You however, seem to be one of the millions of actual stupid people who like to criticize evolution without even knowing what it is (because a preacher-politician said so, I'm sure). Just how old are you -- are you sure you're old enough to be writing in forums like this.

P.S.: Your suppose to ask questions here -- you just came to preach. Really, just how old are you kid -- elementary or middle school?

Do you believe that the earth is several billion years old, is a sphere, rotates around the sun, and that the sun is just one star of the Milky Way galaxy, and that this galaxy is just one galaxy of hundreds of billions of galaxies?

Or do you believe that the earth is only thousands of years old, is flat, and that the sun revolves around the earth, and that the stars are points of light fixed in the 'heavens'?

Have you made any attempt whatsoever to learn what real evolutionary biologists say about evolution, instead of what creationists say about evolution?

Mankind started out dumb. We had no choice, because we had no one to teach us, and we had to learn every new piece of knowledge the hard way. For many thousands of years, each generation started from only what their parent generation could tell them orally, because we had no written language. We finally invented written language, and the first written books were special, were nearly magic. They made the transmission of some knowledge from one generation to the next much more reliable. But this did not make mankind suddenly smart. And much of the knowledge written in books was incorrect. Mankind can only became smart if we are willing to let go of past mistakes, and make sure that all knowledge we pass on to future generations is the best knowledge we have.

The Bible claims the world is flat. Even as recently as Christopher Columbus, many people still believed that was true.

The Bible claims that the sun revolves around the earth. Even as recently as Galileo many people still believed that was true.

The Bible claims that the earth is less than 10 thousand years old. Even today, some people still believe that is true, despite many different forms of evidence.

The Bible claims that God created Adam and Eve, and all of mankind are descendants from them. Because of this, you apparently believe that evolution cannot be true. Are you sure you want your children, and their children, to think this way?

Evolutionary though dates back to Ancient Greece. Aristotle introduced the idea of a "great chain of being". Darwin (along with Alfred Russel Wallace, a Christian) introduced natural selection as a mechanism.

A scientific theory is not an assumption, but a rigorously tested hypothesis.

Many religions accept evolution.

What you have are assertions contrary to fact. Given the gross errors in your basis, your rant is devoid of merit.

Evolution requires no faith. It is evidence based and can be demonstrated using statistics.

Science is not a deomcracy - the fact that billions of people agree with something does nothing to make it right. The entire population of Earth once believed the Sun orbited the Earth - all of them were wrong.

You asked a lot of questions. I'll ask you some. Why do you think the Phoenix Mars lander was blasted off from Cape Kennedy Florida this morning (Saturday) to begin a 422 million mile journey to Mars? It hopefully will arrive in May 2008. One of its purposes is to test the theory of evolution specifically to find any evidence for there being bacteria there. It cost millions of dollars. Do you think it is all a waste of time and money? Are any religions testing their faiths like this?

I don't think Evolution is a faith although there is a lot of faith in Science.
