the best wedding gift is always cash or something from their registries - they make those lists for a reason!
if you see something on their registry that you personally like, get that for them, or find something that could be personal (if you always break a glass at their paties, get them a new wine glass set, that sort of thing).
if you give them cash, you can also write in suggestions of things you hope they put it towards, like saving for a new house or getting any china that other people don't buy for them.

First, find out if they have registered at any stores. The best way to find out is to ask them, or their parent(s). If they are registered, take a look at the registry and see if there is anything on the list that would be in the price range (or a couple of gifts together). Many stores also allow you to get a gift card/gift certificate, so if they have registered you could always get them a gift card/certificate (which saves you on shipping and wrapping!). If they have not registered, then cash is a good idea, or a gift certificate to a store you know that they go to frequently. Not knowing them at all I'd be reluctant to suggest a specific gift, and most couple who are marrying are grateful to get cash rather than a gift.

You can ask your friend's mom to see where the couple is registered at. Then you can pick a gift or gifts from their registry. You know these items are what they want.
Another idea is to get them something you know they are into. For example, if the bride is into Precious Moments, you could get a wedding Precious Moments figurine.
Cash is always a good idea too if you can't find anything else to get, but they will remember who gave them what gift when they see it in their home.

Ur question reminded me of a story I have read years ago. That's also about a wedding gift----an ice-cream making machine. In that story the receivers hadn't used it for many years. When they got older they always had quarrels. One day one of them (maybe the woman)took the machine out and tried to make some ice-cream,then another one came to help ,by making ice-cream together they remembered the wonderful times they had and realised the gift giver's intention.I don't know how much does it cost to buy an ice-cream making machine, but I hope u can buy them something like that, something can make them do things together.

If they've registered at a store--you should be able to find something from their registry. I usually try Target; Bed, Bath and Beyond; Williams Sonoma; Pottery Barn; Home Depot; etc. Usually 1 of those stores I'll find a registry for just about any wedding I've attended.

Go to personalcreations.com and look at their wedding gifts. My husband and I received some wall-hangings from them with out names on it and I love them. They are all good quality!! I have purchased several things from them since for my friends and never had a problem.
Other than that, you could just give money in a pretty card.

Something they can keep forever to remember wedding day and friends who helped them celebrate. I loved the stainless mixing bowl set my Grandmother got me. I used it for over 20 years. I like to give something with classic beauty like crystal stemware or a covered cake plate. If you know something they need you can get that for them. I got one nephew luggage they needed for the honeymoon but gave it to them early. Any luxury item like a very good quality blanket would make an excellent gift most people don't have a good quality blanket since they are expensive.

You can give them some gift cards to Wal-Mart, Linens and Things or Sears and let them pick out what they want. You also can give them a couple of different gift cards to different places.

It depends what the brie and groom are into. Buy what they might have picked out. That way you know you they will like it. DIshes and blankets or picture frames are always good. maybe something for their kitchen or living room.
