So far, the best I have come accross is a tablet called Travel-Eeze. The only place I have found them is in Boots, and they are designed for children, but can also be used for adults. They are strawberry flavoured and can be taken before travel or at the onset of sickness. They also last for 24hrs, which is great if you have a long journey ahead. I give mine to my daughter, who is 9, about 20mins before we set off. They are not expensive and there are quite a few in a pack, they don't seem to produce any side effects, though always check with your pharmacist.
Obviously avoid looking out of the side windows in cars or reading books, drawing, writing or map reading and look straight ahead when travelling.
You could also get some Peppermint essential oil, put a bit on a tissue and inhale it if you feel nauseous, this works quite well, as can sucking peppermints or eating ginger biscuits.
There are also accupressure bands available which you wear on your wrists and if placed correctly they can be quite effective.
To be honest, I always use TravelEeze now as they really are that good.

Hi, I suffer from travel sickness when travelling in backl of cars or on buses for a long time.
There are a few rememdies available from pharmacies but I prefer more natural remedies. What I have found works, and I think somemone above mentioned it, but it's ginger. Aparently ginger and peppermint settle the stomach.
You can buy stem ginger that has been candied (great for the sugar kick you sometimes crave on a trip) or gibger snap biscuits, or you could grate a small amount of fresh ginger into a jug and add a slice of lemon and teaspoon of honey, pour hot water over it, mix well until the honey has melted and let cool. Take out the slice of lemon and pour into a clean empty water bottle and chill. Take this with you instead, or with water on your trip and sip when you feel the sickness coming on.
Another good one is peppermint, you could make peppermint tea and chill as with the ginger drink or simply take some strong peppermints with you, like trebor extra strong or the like.
Good luck.

You can but travel bands which go on each wrist and it affects some kind of pressure points which stops the sick feeling.
I've also heard ginger is good too - not sure what form to take it in though!

Look at the horizon; focus on a distant point. If travelling by car, sit in a front seat - makes it easier to focus on the horizon and keep your eyes in tune with the motion of the car. Don't read - keep watching your horizon focal point. Roll down the window - fresh air helps. Stop often and get out and walk around: restores your sense of balance.

Hi
Stugeron travel sickness tablets are really fantastic. they have drastically helped two of our children who have had big probs when travelling by car or bus. Son used to be sick every time he travelled to an away rugby match. Stugeron completely solved the problem and changed his saturdays.

Keep looking out of the vehicle, so your brain believes the motion information from your eyes not your semi circular canals, this works pretty well for trains planes and cars, boats though you need to be as close to the water line and the centre of the boat as you can as this is the point with the least motion.

Ginger tablets are the best! Take one or two tablets and you will not have any nausea. You can buy them at any health food store and Walmarts. Keep them always on hand, they will stop nausea from anything that might have upset your tummy. Have a great trip!

Dramine pills stops it but start taking it the day before.
