we have just brought a quadzilla jow 300e super utility, it has 2 adult seats. we have added a massive cargo box that can be used as a backrest too. does anyone know if it is illegal to take a child as a passenger? it is definately safe for our son but we're not sure if there is an age limit for passengers.

You cannot fit seat-belts on a quad. You cannot buy seat-belts for a quad - whoever told you that you can, is stupid.

When a quad turns over, it is safer to be thrown clear - if you were held in the seat with a seat-belt, you will be crushed. Hence, you cannot buy seatbelts for a quad.

The only rules for pillions on motorcycles and quads in the U.K. are:

1) They must wear a secure, approved crash helmet.
2) Their feet must be able to safely reach the footpegs.
3) If they are under 17 years of age, a parent or guardian must give their consent for the child to ride as a passenger.

No age limit. But you must have road tax and insurance if you want to use it on public roads or land, including public parks. Helmets and seat belts will be required too. You can ride them on private land without the above, but must have permission from the land owner. This is uk.

I had a trike some years ago and there was no age limit then my son was on it at the age of three. As long as they are safe you should be fine. Happy quadding.

Perhaps you could verify with your insurance company just to be on the safe side.
