I just want to know how they can tell the sticker is form your tag without the tag itself. The tags where I am from don't have any stickers that could be identified on there own.

Thats a federal crime! Not sure of the penalty though. I had my tag stolen a month ago while on vacation in North Carolina! Had to drive from there back home to Indiana without any plates on my car! Police said alot of kids steal them just for the sake of a game or to hang them on there wall. Im hoping thats the case but now that I hear your story it scares me that someone could be out commiting crimes in a vehicle with my plates on it. This type of crime is so ignorant. Good luck!
