My boyfriend and i have been together for 2 years now... and we're really happy. Unfortunately he's an Indian Hindu and i'm a malay Muslim. As most Muslims would know we cannot marry unless he converts but he has hinted to me several times lately that he cannot see himself converting. Am i foolish to hope that he will change his mind someday? We're still together despite knowing we might never get married. We've even considered dating till we're old and gross, never getting married, haha.

He belongs to the Hindu caste of Brahmins, and his parents are extremely traditional. That being said though, his choice to not convert is personal, not just because of family. Currently we're both trying to learn more about Islam.

after living together in the US for 7 years.
You are married - common law marriage.

I understand your beliefs are not apporved in your people.
And sometimes as seen on tv, drastic things could happen.
Remember to protect yourself, first and foremost. Your life.

As for your boyfriend, you and him ned to sit down and discuss this. Did you discuss this before you started dating? What was the decision then?

I say Pray about this, your answer iwll come.

hmmm interesting issue.... well i usually figure people should only convert if one party is verry dedicated to his/her faith and the other isnt...

but if conversion isnt an option...... run away and get married?? but thats probly too farfetched to be a real option.

i know some people who have been together forever and have had kids and live together etc... and never got married and they seem happy. so mabey thats what would work for you?

If you want to be married then I think you'll need to let it go. If your faiths are incompatible it will be very difficult to ever succeed. Sorry.
