No I don't think the termites and bark beetles would pose much of a risk since there probably wasn't very many species back then.

The International children's bible says cypress.

Not with all that tar that coated it the termited wouldn't have made a dent.Let's say it wasn't,it takes years for termites to cause damage.Bark beetles eat live trees, believe me ,living up here in the San Bernadino Mtns of So. Calif.,I know!
All the animals were babies when they were brought on board so maybe all the bugs were larvae?

It would be really really hard to make an Ark completely out of metal!!!!! Wood would be easier. Also, God told Noah to bring along 2 of every animal species, one female and male so that they could reproduce and create more animals for us to enjoy!!!!!!!

The important lesson from that story, shows Noah's obedience and faithfulness to the Lord. Because of this, God spared Noah and his family when He flooded the whole earth. It was really hard for Noah to follow God's commands because Noah was the laughingstock, for there was no need for a boat where he was!!! Noah is a great example for obedience to the Lord, but our best example who we should model ourselves after is Jesus Christ!!!

\o/ Praise God!!! \o/

p.s. God didnt allow the termites to eat the Ark...

where does it say cypress and besides ... we know there was a flood it is mentioned in Beowulf and some other ancient writings ... but it was not the world that flooded it was just a region and it was not rain but a catastrophic flood caused by an earthquake that caused a portion of the red sea to flood an adjacent area .... the biblical story is the result of tales passed from generation to generation and finally it showed up as the flood story we see today .....the ability to build a wooded vessel the size described did not exist and even if it did the size is greater than can be built from wooden beams ...and where on earth is there one area where all life exists that you can put on a vessel let alone one place.. the facts are fictional and are tradition not facts to be believed as presented they need understanding and perspective .....

Cypress? He didn't, he said Gopher Wood and to this day, NO ONE still knows what Gopher wood is. . . also, many of the burrowing and hibernating animals could have been protected in their burrows by God and not have had to been put on the Ark at all. The Bible never says every animal on the planet was represented and it wouldn't have made sense when many wouldn't have needed to have been put there.

"[I]nsects are not included in the meaning of behemah or remes in Genesis 6:19-20, so Noah probably would not have taken them on board as passengers anyway." And even if they were, how much of the ark do you think they could have eaten?

The story of Noah relates back to a Assyro-Babylonian king who filled a barge with all of his possession during a flood of the tigress and Euphrates. These flood happen a lot but this one was bigger than normal. The King then crashed his barge on a hill, not a mountain( show me a mountain in that area), and had all of his treasures stuck there.

LOL! @ Chris

Metal doesn't float?! What a joke! I wonder what they make submarines out of? Better yet, the U.S. battleships as well...

God told Noah to do it, and Noah just HAD to do it.

Also, there was something about a world-wide flood that was going to happen...
