The normal rate of growth for human hair is half an inch per month. Unless you get extensions at the salon, you wont be having long hair any time soon. Try and be patient, because your hair will grow out to the length you'd like in time. Make sure to treat it properly and take care of it.
hope this helps
good luck

The first answer is good. I've also heard that massaging the scalp helps to make your hair grow faster. I don't know if it's true, but I do it when I wash my hair. And to keep the split ends to a minimum, be sure to condition the ends really well. That tip came from the stylist who cuts my hair.

Don't get it cut until it starts getting split ends. If your hair has plenty of body and volume, make sure you use a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. (If you have fine hair that likes to lie flat, a deep conditioner would just make your hair even flatter.) Use as little heat as possible when drying and styling your hair.

regardless what anyone says about split ends, if you want your hair to grow as quickly as possible....
DO NOT CUT OR TRIM THE ENDS.
each time you trim the ends, you are cutting off several months of growth.
