If the sun really stopped the planet would have been thrown out into space and we would not be here today. But many things could cause a light to exist. God could have caused an astroid to pass by the earth or a lot of different things.
Perhaps the one who made the sun and stars could provide light on one country in one spot for a few hours, that looked like the sun was still there. They were fighting a war hand to hand combat. So it wasn't like they were watching the sky.
It stayed light that was all that was required.
A set of baseball field lights to those people would be a major achievement. One little astroid passing close to the earth over their head would do the trick.
He made the Universe guys. That would not be difficult.

There is a popular e-mail that circulates around this grand old series of tubes and pops up every so often. It is basically an urban legend about a devoutly Christian astrophysicist who uses bible passages to clarify events that his colleagues cannot understand. However, the story is obviously false, as even a college student would see the flaws in the science presented. There is no other documentation, just a circulating myth.

The documentation is in the Bible. That's all I need.

And the sun itself didn't stop...the Earth simply stopped rotating long enough so that Joshua had enough sunlight. The Bible says the sun stopped, though, because in those days everyone thought it was the sun that was moving.

some people say the darnedest things.

Some people believe the darnedest things too.
Some people make up 'facts' to fit their fantasy and others refuse to accept facts the disprove their pet theory.

Joshua stopping the sun is just a story. period. It is no more true than the DaVinci Code is.

♥-A parable and it's(allegedly)"true" believers are difficult to part.

No.
That it's been proven is an urban myth, which should be utterly exploded by now, but it still occasionally re-surfaces.

Let's be fair, many Christian sites are doing their bit to squash this. (URL1)
Though there are still "believers" out there. (URL2)
