We see a lot of women having fluid around the ankles when the weather is hot, they are quite often overweight. Usually there is nothing wrong, but if it persist have your doc check you on right sided heart failure (often seen in COPD patients) or protein loss in your urine. Keep your feet up when sitting, avoid salt, for a short term having a fruit day works: eat nothing else but fruits, while avoiding banana's, this diet is so low on salt that you can rid your body of the excess fluid for some time, and has no side effects, unlike the fluid tablets . Don't forget: no liquorice since that can cause fluid retention.

Ankle oedema tends to be much more common in women than men, and increases with increasing age. There are 2 main causes, gravity and vein valve incompetence and heart failure. Yours is certain to be the former. The correct management is elevation and compression. Keep your feet up when possible and wear support stockings from the moment you get up.
If you are desperate for a quick fix one diuretic just on the morning of the wedding is the only hope.

I'm not trying to spoil your happy day, but the fluid retention tendency, especially if there is another condition related such as heart or lung, will always be with you. I was just diagnosed with a heart condition May 30, 2007 that I had walked around with for many years (no one previously had tested me far enough). That's why I know. I hope your wedding is beautiful!

Until you can see your doctor...
#1: Body fluid gathers when it doesn't circulate, so keep moving. Walk around the house, go up/down stairs, walk down the block and back... whatever it takes, keep mobile!
#2: When you're NOT moving, rotate your ankles, do leg lifts, pretend your riding a bicycle and "pump" your legs, run or walk in place... again, anything that'll increase your circulation will help.
#3: When sitting, put your legs up... your ankles needs to be above your waist to minimize swelling.
#4: Dandelion root is an herbal supplement that's a natural diuretic.
Hope this helps,
  TX Griff

I went to my doctor recently about fluid retention around my ankles, he recommended I walk little and often so the fluid can't build up and when I sit have my feet raised even when lying in bed. It worked but if this doesn't work for you please see doc.

You need to go see your doctor to find out what is causing it and get it treated, True fluid retention needs to be diagnosed and treated by an MD.

If your retaining water, and are not pregnant, you have a kidney disease or high blood pressure. More then likely its caused by your kidneys. flush them with white vinegar and keep your feet elevated above the heart when ever possible.
