I notice that the old Saturday morning cartoons (bugs bunny, tom and jerry, etc) are a lot differnet from today's (I mean there's nothing wrong with it they're cartoons) Every cartoon has a gun, TNT, someone getting blown up, characters saying "stupid, jerk, etc." smoking in every cartoon, Tom getting his face blown off, etc. I mean can you imagine Dora pulling out a rifle? Hehe, what do you think?

We took ourselves a lot less seriously then. Also, the cartoons were usually seen in a theater, in the company of our parents or a big bunch of other kids, once a week or less. Probably the small amount of exposure back then accounts for people not paying much attention to the effects or "deeper meanings" of the cartoons. Much different from today when kids sit alone in front of the TV for hours watching cartoons.

Yes, and the old cowboys in the movies shot more bullets without reloading than is humanly possible. Also, the hero only got "grazed" by a bullet and usually never seriously injured.

I miss the old cartoons, except for Tom and Jerry. I have never been real fond of them.

I grew up in the 80s and remember watching episodes of Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, Popeye; that have been edited for todays standards. If you don't believe me rent one of the classic Merry Melodies on DVD and watch them in their unedited Beauty.
