I have a 1992 GMC 1500 Sierra 2WD with a 4.3L V6 and NV3500 transmission. What is the gear ratio of the rear end?

The information on the right rear axle said GM K19. That is all of the information I found on it.

I contacted GMC with my VIN number and they have reported it to be 3.42. Thanks anyway.

The axle code is stamped on the front of the right rear axle tube about 3-5 inches out from the rearend housing. There is a three letter designation, for example, XPN, or UUW, with this information, I would be able to tell for certain what you have.

Look on the case -- it may be stamped. My guess is a 355-1 ratio...Jack up the rear drive wheel and turn the wheel one time around... Count the times the drive shaft rotates and you will be close.
Formula---3 and 1/2 turns of the drive shaft... Turn the driive wheel once... Ratio is 355 to 1...
