your right, your mom CANT do anything about what you do when you grow up. and if you want to be a model, it should be up to you. she should love you enough to let you grow up and learn from your own mistakes. hope it helped. good luck at the model thing, which i could be one too

Most mothers want more for their daughter than to be a model. Modelling looks glamorous, but it's a very competitive and harsh industry. How many models are there in the world? And how many of them are super models, or VS models? Very few make it to that level. And if you don't, you're looking at working much harder for much less money. Realistically, being a rich, successful model is about as likely as being an actress. I have no problems with you aspiring to be a model. Just don't ignore other options. Modelling is not the only way to go. And many models have other jobs or careers behind them. Find something else you want to do, and pursue both. That way, if modelling doesn't work out for you, you can fall back on being a doctor, or accountant, or architect. Or whatever to like.
Please, understand your mother's motives and don't limit yourself.

She's disappointed that that is the full extent of your ambition.
Maybe she finds the idea of her little girl modelling "slutty" underwear upsetting too. She will be worried that you might pose for inapropriate photos while you are underage, or that someone has put this idea in your head.
It is very hard to get a job in modelling, and a very shallow industry.
She would much prefer that you worked hard at school, so that you can at least have a plan B.
When you are older, of course you can do what you want, but she does not have to support you in this particular choice if she is uncomfortable with it.

Because you told her too bad. You all have to communicate and you mother needs to explain her reason why she does not want you in that line of experience. Its hard to get into modeling and there are so many options to have, other goals for young ladies to get involved in. What seems appealing to you now, is not the way you should take your life. Become much more than a model.. its a hard life and hard work to get into. Many young ladies try and do not make it. Your mother is trying to spare the let down you will experience trying to become a model. Find something else that's really worth while, and worth your time. You are still young yet.. find something else to be in life.

I have read alot of these reviews and you can tell the age range by the answers. Your only 14 yrs old, respect your mother, she loves you and only wants the best for you. She doesnt want you to be admired for your looks only, she wants you to have more and be more, not saying models are dumb, look at Tyra, one of my own role models, but its tough. If you dont look a certain way, or have a cetain structure, nobody wants you around. Watch americas next top model, could you really handle being treated like that everyday cause its worse in the real world. Do me one favor, really respect your mom and her feelings, you are so young right now, you have lots of time to grow up, enjoy being a kid cause once its gone, its gone and take it from me, my mom died, and everyday when im going through something, i wish i did have her there to tell what to do and Im only 27, so really wait it out and just sit her down and really commuincate and show your level of maturity to her, you might reach a compromise

Maybe she's thinking more of just modeling as you want, maybe she thinks it w/lead to more than that. I'd say that's what's in the back of her mind. Also, it might be a hard career to get into & she's considering that too. My bet is she's thinking of you being more than a "vicrotia secret" model. Is there any way you could find out if that's her fears?

Mom's worrying about your showing your body on the cover of a magazine. She's afraid of how it will affect your life. At 14, Victoria's Secret may be a little out of range for you. But keep a positive attitude, & don't harrass Mom. You'll find if you don't push it, & just mention that you want to model (don't name specifics), she may be a little more cooperating.

She is finally realizing you are getting older & soon she wont even be able to tell you what to do. Im in high school & I told my mom point blank that I might try & follow the playboy business. As in modeling for them. She didnt have a problem with it after we spoke about what I would be doing. She knows that Im going to do what I want to do. Sit your mom down & talk. Right now, give her what she wants to hear which is, Ive changed my mind, I want to be a doctor. lol. Later as you get older, bring it up again. She might take it better.

You so young and telling mom you want to pose half naked when you grow up. She's said no so you don't try to start your career early posing for BFs. Plus it can and often does lead to nude modeling and porn.
If you're a beauty with a hot looking body, even more paranoid she'll be.

I think it's just the fact that it's like a men's thing. Although most of the models are beautiful and "pure" (shall we say), they are still sex symbols, and maybe she doesn't want the whole world viewing you or your body like that.
