I seriously doubt it, I'm having trouble enough trying to fit it in my 66 and everybody is telling me it won't fit because it's to long. Ihave seen it done a long time ago, my 300ci has a Sig cam and 4 barrel for 400 hp.

Not really. Even though the earliest 79-84 Mustangs got the 300's little brother, the 200, the 300 is a lot longer AND taller. Truck engine swappers know that the big six mounts almost right where the v8's do. Thus it's easy to see exactly how much taller the 6 is. In a Fox Mustang without cutting into the firewall the engine would end up sticking up about two inches through the hood and radiator support where the hood latch currently is. Even if you did so, what would you do for a radiator, bungee it to the front bumper?
You're not the first to think of this. Someone once also wondered about the measurements for a vintage Mustang swap. I just happened to have a a couple of V8's, a 300, a vintage Mustang, AND a Fox Mustang . Plus a measuring tape. So....I found out it's not at all practical.

Looks like a lot of fabrication work, and the 300 six is a looong motor not shore it will fit anyway.
Not worth the time and aggravation my guess is you have a 300 motor and a trashed mustang, sell em both and buy something that runs.

I'm at a total loss for words on this one. Ok why would you want to swap in a 4.9 engine? They don't have much power and Mustangs are supposed to have power.
