I personally do not think it is trashy to get one there but it partly depends on the design. Most people do refer to these as "tramp stamps" now though, so just because I don't see it as trashy doesn't mean others won't. I had the same issue with my mom. I am 18 years old and recently got my first tattoo. She was not happy about it and I was lectured for a few days but I learned that if you keep it covered up when you are around your parents and don't bring it up to them alot then they will let the topic go. Also, make sure that you keep it extremely clean or they will get mad that it got infected. If they start asking why you want a tattoo just explain the truth to them. That you like the way it looks and that it is your body and your decision, but be nice about it. Also, point out that having it on your lower back gives you the option of not showing it at inappropiate times or events. It's much better to get one that can be hid when you want to dress up very nicely for a wedding or something than to have it on your arm or somewhere where it is always seen. Good luck!!!

Yeah it is trashy, and if I can ask what is the point, I mean why will you get a tattoo and what kind? Maybe you should wait for few more years and then believe me,you will change your point of view. When I was 18 like you I had the same opinion I wanted Latin tittle and now when I am 21 and I certainly wouldn't put any tattoo on my body, just wait until you are little bit older!= )

If you love the design, and you're really excited about getting it, then who cares what everyone thinks? There's a lot of stigma attached to the idea of lower back tattoos. I have one, I designed it myself, and I love it.
But I would let your family know that you're doing it, and maybe even invite some of them to come with you while you get it done. Maybe they'll open up to the idea a little more.
Also.. keep in mind that lower back tattoos hurt really bad, and be prepared to handle the pain. Don't get a lot of it done over your spine, or close to your hips. (personal experience, 6 hours of hell)

it depends, I have several tattoo's, my wife has 2 and wants another. My 16 year old daughter wants one, but I am making her wait till 18 and she is being very selective on the design. Remember, it's permanent, and if not done right, with age, it turns into a blob of ink. Now, my personal opinion is that they can be very attractive and even sensual if done right and if it is the right design. Of all my tattoo's I only regretted getting one. It was my first one, was highly visible and was tasteless as well. I ended up getting a much larger tattoo over it years later (when I matured) to cover it up.
Hope this helped.
Good luck

Listen, i think your family is right. I know so many people that regret tatoos. Think abotu it. Right now it may be teh coolest thing since lip gloss, but when your kids are whining and asking for mac and cheese you might look back and think that was a stupid move. Until sugery has a way of removing tatoos quickly, i suggest you DONT do it. Plus, thats where it hurts the most to get a tatoo... your skin is really sensitive there. And it burns so bad. I dont have any experience with tatoos but it could be the biggest regret of skin you ever experienced.
PS - but if you're dying to get one, make sure they sterilize the needle and dont just do it at some cheap shop where they reuse needles and dont sterilize the ink....

Only bigoted ,narrow minded people think it,s trashy.Tattooes are usually done as a personal reminder to the wearer of a person or life experience they want to remember always.Having one on your back is a more private area that isn,t seen by the world,it won,t interfere with getting a job(cause the public doesn,t know its there),it protects you more from bigotry, and yes real men find it sexy. And if you change your mind years from now and regret the choice it,s not in an obvious area that needs removal.Tramp stamp-not ! Funny how some people like things that rhyme-it,s childish!

Im also wanting one on my lower back, and have had my design for a while. Foutunanly my parents are willing to let me have it (meaning my mom will let me but its better that dad does not know about it) As long as the design is not to big, and you have a really nice design i think they look great!
Talk to you parents again, about it and maybe they'll come round to the idea! Hope you get it done! Gd Lk xXx

It would only seem trashy to me if you get a big emo-like one there...just get a small one to make it look trendy and nice..I'm sure it'll look cool!
